I couldn't resist the car when I bought it because it was in such good condition. The only down side was the chavvy Cobra backbox, attached to a cat-back system built by Ascar exhausts in Sheff. After living with it for a year I think my 172 is giving me tinitus, it's soooo loud! What are my...
I've just worked something out
I reckon I get about 330ish miles on a tank, maybe more which is about 35mpg. The 08 plate corsa hire car I had last week did about 45mpg. Now get this, 330 miles in the corsa would have cost me a tenner less than 330 in the 172. I reckon the amount of enjoyment...
When people quote 40 odd mpg is that actual or going off the computer? At the moment the computer is tells me I'm averaging 39mpg but when I do the maths at re-fueling time, it will be more like 30mpg. That's why I was blaming the induction kit as it was the only modification, as far as I could...
Currently have a 172FF with a PiperX induction kit. I generally get about 30mpg on my daily commute, which due to traffic, is fairly sedate. I'd really like to squeeze some more mpg out of the car so I can razz it more at other times.
So, I was wondering whether swapping the induction kit for...
Okay so I need to ask them to take the car back in fit the tensioners and pulleys. Now, the fact that they have not done this in the first place raises questions about the quality of the work on the timing belt. I trusted them because they had quite a few performance cars in stock so I assumed...
When I bought my 172 about a week ago the dealer changed the cam and aux belts for me. He gave me the bill for the parts (for the service history) but there's only two belts on it, nothing else.
Should the idlers and tensioners also be changed at the same time and any advice on what to do...
Cheers for the knowledge
Greenlight came out the best @ £470 but I hadn't counted on my current insurance company giving me a decent deal £540 + no APR on monthly repayments, so I'm sticking with them!
I've just bought a phase 2 172 with an induction kit and SS exhaust. I'm nearing 30, have 6 years no claims, a clean licence and live in a low risk area. Adrian flux quoted me £700 for the year which I can afford but surely I can get it cheaper?
Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm based in the Peak District and l'm looking for a phase 2 172 for around 4500 (I'll put an ad in the wanted section too). Any general advice would be appreciated though
