Best insurance company?

  Black ff172
I've just bought a phase 2 172 with an induction kit and SS exhaust. I'm nearing 30, have 6 years no claims, a clean licence and live in a low risk area. Adrian flux quoted me £700 for the year which I can afford but surely I can get it cheaper?

  182
Yup, Greenlight ftw. Last renewal 25yrs old, 2yrs ncd, 1 sp30, not the best postcode, under £700..

  LY V6 with Recaros
Yep Greenlight for me too. Half the price of all my other quotes and it hasn't cost me any extra to add mods

  Mk2 1.2 Campus
I tried money supermarket and they quoted me £340 Fully comp with protected no claims. I thought it was a bargain compared to the £1100 TPF&T I was paying last year. That's until I tried to buy it and they'd only quoted me on a 1.2.

I'm with Brentacre now, top service, low price.

swiftcover mate there mega cheap but the dont insure modified cars at all so just say its standard as an airfilter not that bad (unless you crash and dont have standard 1 in ya boot )

Terrible idea. I'd rather shop around and get a modified policy and save all the hassle.

  Recaro'd 182
i'm 22, 23 in may and i have been driving since i was 18 with no convictions etc etc. I got quoted £768 fully comp on clio 182 and thought that a rob as i paid £640 last year.

I made a new quote from scratch and got it down to £597 fulyl comp (voluntary £150 excess) so i paying that now so happy :) o ye from direct line. no mods to it

Flux are terrible.

Quick to take your money, require a solicitor's letter to get anything back from them...

Plus I found customer service to be shite - terrible at answering the phone once you were with them, the forms they'd send you would be full of mistakes and have a much higher excess than you asked for (presumably because they lie about it to get you the better price over the phone), and they also successfully didn't send me a reminder so I had two weeks before I realised it had run out.

Bunch of t***s if you ask me.

  Clio 172 mk2
Money Supermarket is misleading...I had quotes on there under £300 but when I wen to the site for a proper quote to buy etc turned out to be much more.

More Than are okay but atthe moment Priviledge quoted the best.

TBH you have to move on a yearly basis...every insurance company I've been with has wanted an extra £200/300 on renewal which is a f**king joke

Greenlight should be able to sort you for around £350-400 I would imagine.
£700 seems steap.

http://www.greenlightinsurance.com/

why do they not insure this one?

Renault Clio 172 “Cup” (non-ABS) model - (All other 172 derivatives are acceptable)

found the answer...

The above have been excluded based upon our historic claims performance with the specific models listed above - Most other Performance model vehicles are currently acceptable.

This is why I dont trust insurance 100%, you are buying a promise.

I often think when I've taken out a policy what is the level of cover i will 'actually' recieve if i need to make a claim.

Sometimes I feel it's not about getting the cheapest quote but getting cover with someone who is good for thier word if you are unfortunate, other wize that insurance certificate only really amounts a very expensive sheet of paper where your policy printed on it is worth very little in the even of an accident.

^ that isnt on the turbo'd 182 is it?

I've heard some insurance companies load +25% onto your policy for that.

I don't know much about greenlight and what they are like to deal with etc but that seems like a good price, considering the performance you're getting. I bet you were reasonably shocked by the quote?

A couple of years ago I saw a mustang for sale. I was quoted £99, yes, under a ton, for a six pot 1965 mustang coupe on a limited milage classic policy, even the lad on the phone was shocked, especially when I told him I'd try around for a cheaper quote.

Can't believe they quoted you so much. I got a quote the other day from Adrian Flux on a turbo valver for when I'm 21, 2 years NCB fully declared running 240bhp and it was only £800 fully comp.

Cheers for the knowledge

Greenlight came out the best @ £470 but I hadn't counted on my current insurance company giving me a decent deal £540 + no APR on monthly repayments, so I'm sticking with them!

I dont know about your car however the cheapest for me was with DirectLine.

10% discount for applying online.
10% discount for my parents being with them.

You also dont have to pay stupid excess with them, the most they will ever ask for is £350. Ive seen posts with some people paying £800 on CS! So all in all they worked out cheapest for me.

Directline.......

ummmm Friday might ummmm had 2 hrs to get to Brighton, opened my mail and received 2 letters looking the same, ummm from the above!

New Policy Fully Comp, etc etc 12 months for £400.05 done "SOLD" insured from 5pm Friday night, with £65 given back escort policy, and £100 back for my just cancelled Clio 182 (3 mnts) left policy.... what a laugh Friday night was NOT!

direct line ftw! they accept motorcycle ncb so i can insure my 1.2 16V for 1500 @ 18, which is extreamly expensive on the whole but relitavely for my age pretty cheap.
