Diffs! Specifically Blackline.

Looking to send my gearbox to NorthloopCup and having a diff fitted whilst there.

I was settled on a quaife, But then..

I've seen and heard bits from Blackline, mainly appear to be popular with 197/200 folk.
MattLewisRacing have one listed for the JC5 gearbox but nowhere else has any blackline ones listed for JC5.

I've seen they've sold a few,

Has anyone HERE bought one for the JC5 and its been correct and a straight fit (I don't want to cause problems for Mark fitting them if I can avoid it)

And also, how do they perform on track, and has anyone had any issues?

Finally, what's the warranty, if any?

For anyone else interested in the blackline diff, I now have a blackline diff in my possession to fit in a mates gearbox. It’s nigh on identical to the quaife, and I will be fitting it in the box tomorrow evening for a dry run - just to see what the fit is like.

If it’s all good, I’ll then fit the crownwheel and start building the box. Will report back in here to update as I go along, but I’m not envisaging any problems tbh.

After that, the next update will be on the 2nd of August as it’ll be on track being put through its paces!

I have a Blackline in my 197 racer and it's pretty good. It does lose traction occasionally unlike the Gripper in my 182 but is perfectly acceptable. The KTec Clio 197 race cars have to run them too.

Did a trial run with the diff fitting this evening. Fitting was fine and no preload adjustment required!

Heated the crownwheel and fired it on the diff.

Only negative is the thread for the nut isn’t as nicely cut as you’d get on a quaife, but, the nut tightens down to torque spec, so all good!

Do they just press off the old and onto the new? And also do diffs from Clio 200 fit 250 meg as I’m looking at getting Meg but Dunno if it’s cup or not
Mk2 crownwheel needs to be machined to suit the blackline - the same as the quaife. The mk3 crownwheel is bolted on. Couldn’t say if the diff fits in a Meg box though I’m afraid.

Only recently got to try it out on track, Oulton park. I love this thing so much more grip in the corners, can't wait for the next one, just need to get braver now as the car is far more capable than I am.
