Assetto Corsa EVO

I'm super excited for this, the open world they're releasing later this year looks like a gamechanger! Plus the early access cars are focusing more on road cars rather than race cars, which makes a change from their usual GT3 stuff.

Any news on expected release time?

I'm working until 3am so ideally I'd get it early, skip sleep and get a few hours in before the school run.

I am very excite. However all the promises the devs keep making remind me of No Man’s Sky.
I'm not too worried about the devs, they've set out a sensible timeline of releases and it seems like they've constantly tried to downplay expectations.. They haven't gone all in on hyping it up which is a good sign.

For those of you that give it a whirl, please let me know!

Im getting a smidge bored of AC. Cant really pinpoint why, but I kind of miss the online element I got from GT Sport. That might be it

Took a while to get the controls setup, not sure on the braking yet, can't really tell when locking up or not, FFB seems very light but might be settings. did a few laps of Laguna Seca in the Arbarth.

Then tried a race and AI were a puntfest, driving into walls, just smashing into you etc. Although that could be down to my erratic driving.

Also alot of the features that were suppose to be there aren't. No license and just a handful of cars, most duplicates of each other in different spec.

Has potential.

I thought the FFB was about a million times better in Evo than either AC/C.

Controls took some adjusting to get to work and a few crashes.

As above - could be a solid game

Hello simracers -

Version 0.1.1 of Assetto Corsa EVO is now live. Your support has been overwhelming, thank you! While we resolve the server overload issues to enable online mode for all, we have enabled all cars in offline mode, so that your experience is less limited.

You will now be able to choose from all 20 car models contained in Early Access v0.1 in the Garage.

We are working non-stop in order to bring the game online again and allow for Special Events, Driving Academy and game economy to be playable as well.

Thank you for your patience
The KUNOS team

I’ve had another blast earlier since the update.

I’m definitely an arcade sim racer🤣 think I’ve managed one clean lap in 2 hours.

Car sounds are my only real gripe right now, need some work.

If this is the unpolished get it out there for feedback then I think it has huge potential and will be my go to.

Will give VR a go on the weekend.

Yeah, I've spent half the evening in it. For me it's like ACC but with road cars. Really like it.

Just a few things though
1. The RS3 seems to have some sort of stability control that, even if you turn TC off, will not let you do donuts.
2. The menus run at like 15fps. WTF. Especially annoying when it's the graphics settings menu and you think it's running like garbage but it's actually just the menu.
3. All the buttons are set to press and immediately release, even if you hold the button down. Why? Things like handbrake, look back/left/right should automatically be held on if you hold the button down. You have to set the button to 'CONSTANT' in the settings on the right.
4. Some cars seem to be really choppy at full throttle, like you've got a bad potentiometer in your pedals and it's flickering to like 50 percent or something. I haven't completely discounted that being a real hardware issue though.

Will be hammering it again tomorrow.

Back from holiday today and bought it whilst waiting to board our flight at the airport. :p

Only tried it with the pad so far to get some feel for it - will have a go with the wheel and pedals tomorrow. I'm swaying between a good effort so far, to some rather ropey and rough execution of things - some rather trivial, admittedly.

Did a session on Brands with the weather set to drizzle and dynamic. Got about a third the way in and the rain stopped, but then everything cleared up instantly too. No drips on the glass, no spray, no nothing.

Seems to have a long rollout plan in place, for those who haven't seen it listed yet.

Absoluelty loving this game. Can hoy some cars into bends and catch half way around ( ECos ) where as others you have to be so careful ( MB GT2 )

I really think Kunos have nailed FFB in this.

Tbh - they've done a cracking job with the pad, straight out of the gate. I was pleasantly surprised at how 'catchable' the cars were when too much commitment was put into a corner.

I'm thinking of doing some GPU/performance profiling on this and sending them the results/suggestions! 🤣 :p

I think it's pretty good so far, but I'm experiencing some very strange frame spikes, incredibly slow resource load times, and various other things. It doesn't seem to make much difference whether I'm running lower settings or fully maxed out at ultra settings.

I've also experienced daytime suddenly dropping dark, rain appearing/disappearing, and there's a severe lack of particle and volumetric effects (which I assume will come later). The sounds are pretty good but the audio balance, triggers, occlusion(?) are a bit rough around the edges, too.

Regardless, I think this has a lot of potential. (y)
