The Formula 1 Exhibition

One of my Xmas presents from the missus was tickets to the F1 exhibition in London. Went down on Friday to make a weekend of it, went to the exhibition yesterday and finally back home late last night after 5 hours on the road.

Was a good day out, pretty amazing to see some things up close and personal. Also incredible to see the absolute state of Grojeans car after his crash, it really goes to show how safety has improved so much over the years. I was a little disappointed with the racing sim though; I’d hoped for something a little more fancy rather than a glorified home sim set up. Still, I managed to get on the leader board for the week so I’ll take that 😂

I took a ton of pictures, but I’ll be here all day uploading them and many are much the same, so here’s some of the better ones.

All in all a good day out and would definitely recommend.

Grosjean car was such a wreck when you watch the crash and the following moments it's amazing he survived let alone with no major injuries. As you say is a testament to the safety but I do think some luck came into that one too.

I honestly thought I'd just watched someone die on TV when it happened. Completely different type of emotion to the normal excitement of watching any live sport. Definitely some luck involved, but still a testament to the safety designs, especially the halo.

They had a loop of the crash and the following few mins of footage as well as an interview with Ayao Komatsu playing on a big screen in the same room. Some of the footage that looked to be from different angles to what I've seen before, too. Seriously scary, can only imagine the adrenaline running through him at that moment.

  A terrible one
You took more pics than me! Worth flagging it runs until the 2nd March (or very close to it) so you don’t have long if you wanted to go.

Top tip, take no food or water. NONE. You have to pay for a locker (not much but it’s a faff) and take public transport. Parking at the excel is really expensive.

All good points worth mentioning!

We used a locker although I already knew I’d need to; cost £3 which tbh isn’t that bad really. Also, there’s a waterfront bar round the side, very fairly priced and food looked really good, although we didn’t eat anything so no idea how it tasted.
