Thinking of getting one of these set ups. 2 cams with the hub, 4k resolution for £199

I wouldn't bother, I found that the eufy cameras I had were shocking on battery life, even worse if you had the spotlight on or set to come on with motion. I then used solar panels but they couldn't keep up with them and was still having to take them down and charge them 1 a month.

I then tried a Reolink wireless one which was much better but didn't record 24/7 (don't think any wireless ones do).

We then had ring spot cams which the battery life was decent on (helped that we had two batteries in so could charge one at a time and keep them going unlike the others with built in batteries).

In the end I went for a Reolink hard wired set, this was after my neighbour was broken into, we got footage of them going through our garden to escape and down past the front of ours but crucial points which could have caught faces weren't recorded.

The Reolink set we got was really easy to install, is really good quality, has the option to add more cameras on and works with both the TV and an app which is great.

Short version: battery cameras are crap, don't waste your time, invest in full setup.

TBH, our doorbell cam battery is that w**k we have another spare charged ready, so I was half expecting that. I'd prefer a PoE set up.

We had this at the old house - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07CQLB8HS/?tag=cliospnet01-21

And I've just installed this at the current house -

Would recommend both of them, I only paid £400 for the current ones so they are more expensive on black Friday 😂

Edit: I've also installed the first ones at two friends houses and they are happy with them too

I'm only really needing a 2 cam set up, one for the front path/drive, one for the back garden, but will look at something similar. Thanks for the recommendation.

Do you think the 12mp is far superior to the 5mp? Our drive is not miles away from the house, but probably 15m or so at the furthest point

This is from the doorbell cam

I'm not convinced that the 12mp is all that better, what is decent is the spotlight on it so you get true colour in pitch black.

I guess that's good for up close stuff, but wouldn't be able to show colour on anyone on my drive?

Try these if you want wired they also do an s300 with built in solar panels.

I run these (bargain now) record to sd card in camera on 24/7 and link to a homebase and a battery doorbell never had any issues with any doorbell lasts months just adjust the zones and sensitivity better if you are getting loads of alerts.

Solar is no good for me as I need the main cam at the front which is north facing.

I think I'm going to try to get some HikVision ColourVu or the Reolink like @MatthewR suggested.

I was looking at this one for round the side of the house, looks like a bargain, already have a doorbell so wanting to add more cameras to cover the side of the house.

Which Reolink did you have? I've had no problems with the two different POE ones I've had but had no end of problems with the battery / solar one I had it was very s**t 😂

Thought id post this.
Heres the reolink 180 degrees one
Got a SD card in it the now, but will hook up to the nvr soon. Just on test.

Then one Minute later the milk man arrives

Then a bit of lens flare it copes with

This is the one bought when on offer

Looks weird

Fairly chunky too.

Was about £85 on offer at the time. Only just got round to putting it up.

Anyone running Blue Iris? I've setup 2x 12MP Reolink PoE cameras, one front and one back, goes into a cheap PoE switch and then into a small office PC I got from marketplace for pennies. Really pleased so far, has a higher initial setup cost, but no subscriptions and I get push notifications for motion to my phone.

I've been having issues where the nvr was gradually losing the time and saying it was earlier than it was. My notifications on my phone would then be delayed as it would actually alert me at the time the nvr thought it was which was f**king annoying.

The amounts of times I'd press the app and go who the f**k is that coming up to the house he looks a bit like m...
Oh it is me. 😂 6 mins ago me.

Quick Google and you can change the time to grab it from googles time server rather than the nvrs internal clock. It's probably common knowledge but figured it may help someone in the future if they suffer the same issue

These are the settings you want.

Thinking of getting some down-lighters & dusk/dawn sensor fitted in soffits & porch ceiling will these affect my hikvison cams, one looking across drive & 2nd by front door?

Insert downlights to right of CCTV cam

Yes mate

Will cause it to white out if it's in its field of view 👍🏻

Cheers, cam is looking at drive & across.

If I put two above the door spaced evenly will this be better.

In photo below thinking replace light with sensor ( lights about 600mm from door not shown well)
Idea have downlight between light & sensor & two spaced similar to above garage door.

After the latest update on iPhone & iPad my cams are not showing in the cloud Hik-App.

They start to load get to 90% crash & strangely NVR seems to reboot?

Had this a couple of years ago & it cleared after a couple of fresh updates 🤬

Can anyone advise why my cameras are doing this before I have to get the chequebook out ?

I’ve had 3 hikvision cameras running for years now but over time they’ve started showing a scrolling shadow of camera 1 on camera 3 and vice versa, camera 2 is not affected. I have a 4th camera that’s never been used that I’ve just tried switching out with 1 and 3 with no success.

I’ve mixed them up into different ports now and the video below is of the 4th brand new camera just hooked up in the living room looking at the ceiling now showing camera 1 and 3 scrolling through it ???

Are these ethernet?

Looks like crosstalk / power is killing signals.

Looking into how to sort this. There are balun connectors on the ends of the wires I have, I’ve removed the wound up extension lead away from the box and cables and still pretty much the same.

Is insulated cables the only way to sort this do you think ?

Dodgy cable?

Is it worth using a short cat5 cable and trying a camera on that, will help rule out a cable issue

There is a right bit of excess cable running thorough the loft right enough.

Camera 1,3 & 4 are dodgy yet 2 is working 100% I’ve swapped and switched them about with no result. Might pull them all in the morning and just attach one at a time to try and see what’s going on.
