Suspension Knock/creak/clunk!

Hello,

My Clio has developed a knock/creak. It only happens at slow speeds and seems to be related to weight transfer. If I break somewhat heavily and then start rolling again it will occur, and the same if I do a 3 point turn/pull into the drive. If I jump on the sill of the car whilst someone has there head at the front it sounds like it is coming from the middle of the car, front axle, just tricky to diagnose for me as when it’s in the air you can’t replicate the noise.

I’ve checked the coilovers, control arms etc everything is tight and as expected. I am going to replace the ARB bushes as these are the only bushes on the car that have not been replaced, but whilst I’m ordering those parts, has anyone had this before or have any idea what it could be as it’s driving me mad.

Videos below - any input appreciated!

You checked your lower engine mount and upper gearbox mount?

Have changed all the engine mounts - nothing at all when on/off throttle. Only when braking hard and setting off again / low speed manoeuvring.

My Clio had a worn top mount producing an intermittent clunk, and not obviously from there either. I put that corner on an axle stand and then carefully put the trolley jack cup under the bottom nut of the hub (use a bit of old carpet to prevent damage to the thread) and as the hub was raised, the noise came from the top mount when it moved slightly. With the wheel off, you can also eliminate it is not coming from any other part of the suspension.

Similar symptoms to me, then I noticed some of the bearing casing on the floor from when it had fractured.

This was from my first Cup.

Ah man. Hoping it’s not the top mount - doubt I’ll get any in time / the chance to replace it before I go to the ring.

I chased a similar knock during my ownership of a 182. When I sold it the new owner messaged and said the subframe wasn't tight and that's what was causing the knock.

Have we got the same car??

I've just had this problem start today, it's sounds the exactly the same. and I go the ring on Friday. Think I'm fucked.
I’ve done 2 track days since this noise started and it’s never gotten any worse so you’ll likely be fine. But I know my luck and it’ll go when I’m furthest away from home🤣🤣

Yeah, I think I’m gonna get the car on a ramp when I change the ARB bushes and triple check everything is tight.
