Passenger seat was stuck, WHAT IS THIS?!

So my passenger seat was stuck almost all the way forward, even though it was working fine the last time it was used. I removed the seats and after moving the rails back and forth out of the car this piece of metal fell out. What is it and where does it go?

Yeah because that bit that came out is probably the part that locks in to the ratchet teeth. New rail needed.
So I took it apart, the part that broke off looks like the 'memory' for where the seat should return to after you're done climbing in the back, the rachet part that holds it the seat in place works fine but isn't allowed to lock in until it hits this piece. Since it broke off, the seat was constantly stuck in 'waiting to return to original position mode'. I don't often have people jumping in the back, so my solution is to just press the rachet down so it thinks it hit that tab, and disconnect the cable so the tilt-forward mode can't unlock the rachet anymore. You can still tilt the seat forward, and move it forward with the lever under the seat you'd normally use to adjust the position, so it's not a major loss!

That'll do!
