Ratchet spanner recommendation

As above what decent ratchet spanners are people using? I prefer an angled head instead of a straight spanner and they need to be decent quality to put up with working in the s**t and gutters.

Ive got a set of snapon ones in my garage box but wanting a complete set for the van (8-19) ive currently just got a 10,13,17&19 in the van

I dont fancy spending £400 on a set.

Ive seen a set of bluepoint ones on tbay
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173615907160

but not sure if they genuine as they are different design than whats on snapons website, but they do look the same as ones ive had in the past.

Halfords Advanced flexi head ones

Had mine for a good 12 years, only issue I've had with them is getting them wet and them being a bit sticky. Overnight in some WD40 and they're spot on for a few more years

Correct, tools are solid though, unlike their vehicle parts quality.

Made in the same factory as milwaukee hand tools and Franklin.
Franklin ratchets are 100% made same place as snapon but i would say better quality than snapon

Not a fan of flexi head ones, twatted my knuckles too many times🤣🤣

The halfords advanced flexi head ratchet spanners are decent for the money but the flexi head pivot wears out fast with regular use, making them a bit floppy c**k like which gets annoying fast. On plus side halfords replace them no quibbles.

Id prob go bluepoint if used all the time.

I won a set of Halfords advanced ones at work years ago, they're pretty good, gearwrench make a nice set of Flexi head ratchet spanners too

Yeah im not after flexi heads, used them in the past and usually end up twatting knuckles off of something, or they get loose and when you're in a shitty place they flop away from where you're trying to get onto

Yep knuckle breakers the flexi head when loose. I need a set of angled ones, and reversible on the lever like a ratchet. I need to invest in a new set/angled set myself.

I did borrow a set of snapon double jointed flex head years ago to do a tricky set of glow plugs and they were mint. Not sure how well they wear but stayed in exactly the right place/solid in use. Were quite new set though.

I've got a few (not a full set sadly) non flexi angled head spanners, some Bahco combination ones with a change over lever which are very nice

and some double ended snap on ones which have a much bigger angle but they're the riveted stamped steel ones so they're not as nice to use

I have the sealey premier ones. Angled head & reversible. Also had good support from Sealey on replacing defective parts under warranty with no quibble and posted out no problem with both these and also impact hex bits. All broken through my fault.

Im sure their available cheaper via other sellers rather than through sealey

Thought this was an interesting wee comparison between snapon flank drive franklin and the carlyle ratchet, the carlyle also has a small flank drive

Look alright them, especially with the 6 pt ratchet end.

Snap on flank drive are mega. Need to invest in a set.

I have some Signet Gearwrench ones, nice spanners. Also some half-moon ratchet spanners, they almost never get used, but when they do it's the only tool that fits and makes the job super easy.

I’m sad to say this but
Halfrauds professional range are awesome for the money
I’ve Never had a spanner break
And I’ve had a 1/2 socket set I got when they came out in the 1990s the one with the black fibre ratchet
I Use both spanner’s and sockets every day
And never had to return one item
