Hi, I'm new here! - 172 cup

Hi all, just picked up my first Clio, its a 172 cup, I think its been around these forums before.

Pretty clean and tidy, but a list of jobs and fixes already starting to build! Brilliant little car, everything I wanted it to be!

Took a few pics when I picked it up:

Thanks! It’s pretty clean for 136k.

No big plans as of yet. But some things need addressing: new rear brake compensator, oil service, new tyres, fix exhaust hanger.

I think I’ll do a few track days, nothing serious. And then modify lightly from there if required.

But mainly, drive and enjoy it! 😎

What are the brakes like and why are you changing the brake valve compensator will you buy an original Renault one?

Zero rear braking (I know there isn't usually much) compensators completely rusted up. managed to free it up but its not helped at all. Got a Bosch one after reading some posts on here as its half the price of the genuine one.

Got a link fella.

I haven't yet compared it to the original in person. Plan is to get it fitted soon, along with a fresh set of rear discs and pads.

Hope it all goes to plan.

Oddly my cup has the compensator with the spring connected to the rear beam. I’m lead to believe this is not required when fitting?

Correct, that link I sent includes the spring but its not required for the cup. I may well leave it fitted and see if I notice any difference at all. I think the lack of spring can cause some MOT issues without the article from VOSA
