The starter motor on the Mrs car (2017 Volvo V40) died last weekend, I've got home start cover so called the RAC.
The lad agreed it was the starter and offered a recovery to a garage, but being Sunday at 1800 he couldn't take the keys as they have to be handed over to someone apparently.
They also offered an RAC mobile mechanic to do it on Tuesday for £415 fitted.. I don't really like people working on my stuff but agreed to get her back on the road while I was away at work.
Tuesday comes and the lad phones me "can't do it on the drive, it's really difficult, have to remove the rad pack, degas the AC etc ."
Called Volvo and they wanted £200 diag fee, £490 for the part and £297 labour.. and could fit it in at the end of November
So I ordered a Bosch starter from autodoc for £141 delivered.
Done on the drive this morning, about 3hrs from opening the garage door to test driving it, had to drop the coolant and move the hoses out the way but definitely not 'too difficult'. RAC mugs.
