    ChatGPT (AI)

They’re incredibly powerful, but I don’t trust any of the AIs enough to let them do stuff like that with my login credentials. Especially not anything from Meta or x.AI

    Home Broadband Recommendations

How much speed and data do you need? I’m on EE 5G, £13 a month, 600Gb a month. Obviously a lot depends on how fast the mobile network is in your area but I’m getting 200meg+ EE Unlimited Data SIM – Uncapped 5G Speeds – No Contract – Preloaded Until 4th March 2028 – Plug & Play Broadband for...

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Honestly, I’m finding Claude incredibly useful. It takes all the drudge out of issue diagnosis and even when it’s wrong it’s usually close enough that I can get to where I need to be. It does mean that I reckon we could fire half the team, give the other half Claude licenses and get through the...

What's your favourite car related YouTube channel?

I think a lot of it is just running out of steam now. There’s only so much mileage (ho ho) in “buy cheapest/riskiest car, fix car, forget about car” content

Between that and this…. https://arstechnica.com/security/2026/10/the-internet-goes-on-high-alert-after-discovery-of-8-compromised-tls-certs/ …. it’s been a hell of a few days in the security space.

I’ve not driven it that much TBH, maybe I just got lucky with it.

The VW Audi Skoda Seat Thread

Spot on. Reconnected, thanks. I was watching out for anything like that, but I think when the previous owner took the R600 intake off the car that never got reconnected.

The VW Audi Skoda Seat Thread

To the EA888 brethren, I took the air box out of my golf to bleed the clutch and found this pipe not connected to anything. Any ideas? Car is spot on, no error codes, runs fine. It’s the Golf R version of the engine if that makes a difference.

    ChatGPT (AI)

Chat GPT is a bit w**k at that sort of stuff TBH and tends to uncritically regurgitate whatever it pulls in from web scraping. But the point still is a good one, validate everything as independently as you can.

The 'I work in I.T' thread

I am getting so fed up with the downsides of AI at work. Our core product was written in-house, no LLM has any real knowledge of it. We now have developers, infrastructure people and even customers generating static based on what Claude is getting confidently wrong. On the one hand AI is great...

    ChatGPT (AI)

It will. He asked his loons on truth social to choose in a poll between Superior Intelligence Supreme Intelligence Extreme Intelligence He then dropped “Supreme Intelligence”. He said it was unpopular because it sounded like it was linked to the Supreme Court and they’ve not been deciding...

    ChatGPT (AI)

Yep. And, amusingly, it’s the most senior levels of management who should be among the easiest to replace with AI tools. Bet it won’t happen.

    ChatGPT (AI)

Yes, and the other big question is where’s the pipeline of expertise to do the stuff that AI can’t going to come from. AI isn’t remotely intelligent. Yet. Boil it right down (with apologies to anyone who’s deep into the tech because this is wrong on almost every technical level, but it’s a...

    ChatGPT (AI)

We’re seeing massive pressure to use AI and one of our support units has been going big on using it for root cause analysis etc. Even with something state of the art for tech work like Claude though, it spits out b****cks when it doesn’t know and what’s so much worse is it sounds utterly...

    ChatGPT (AI)

In all seriousness, if you are then don’t because it increases the cost of the query. Politeness is expensive, who knew 😂 Had some fun with a “but Claude says” person on Friday. I don’t care what Claude says, Claude is wrong because it doesn’t understand X, Y and Z. “But….. Claude says”

    ChatGPT (AI)

It absolutely is. Make it friendly, drive adoption. There are…. downsides https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/09/man-told-chatgpt-he-was-feeling-delusional-chatgpt-insisted-he-was-jesus/

    ChatGPT (AI)

I was messing around with chat gpt the other day and it said something I thought was wrong. So I asked it to confirm and show its sources, and it doubled down on what it was saying. I told it I was sure what it was saying had never happened, and it said I was right and it had never happened. If...

I have no idea what that is 😀 They do have their own App Store etc if that’s what you mean? The Steam integration is good, it’s a popular brand in China so there are plenty of options.

Valve's Steam Frame launches tomorrow. https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamframe?l=english Nothing groundbreaking in the specs in terms of the screens and lenses, but it's very light, has really tight integration with Steam, an included wi-fi dongle for a dedicated high speed connection...

Anyone going for the iPhone 18 / Pro / Max?

They’re saying there will be no base iPhone 18 for this launch cycle, the 17 will carry on. Announcement will be for the 18 Pro range and a new foldable iPhone Ultra. iPhone 18 to follow Q2 next year. You can thank AI for gobbling up all the chip foundry capacity 😒

    Robocop - Rogue City

    Robocop - Rogue City

Mmmmmm they’ve tried that before. They had some interesting ideas but bloody hell it was cheesy 😀 I do get there’s huge value in the IP but nothing will touch the first film IMO. Really was lightening in a bottle.

    Robocop - Rogue City

Yeah, the balance isn’t great. There’s a lot of high octane shooty stuff and then it just stops for the best part of an hour while you do “plot”. Worth it though. Definitely enjoyed the expansion overall. Please tell me you tried to walk down the stairs as ED-209 😀

    Robocop - Rogue City

Unfinished Business is definitely lacking a little bit of polish here and there. All is forgiven when you get to pilot an ED-209 for a bit though!

Anyone going for the iPhone 18 / Pro / Max?

Very unlikely, usually the old pro phones get discontinued completely and the base phone becomes “the cheap one”. So it’ll probably be 17, 18, 18 Pro. With memory and storage supply constraints as they are now, who knows though.

Anyone going for the iPhone 18 / Pro / Max?

I’m still using a 14 Plus. Can’t think of anything that’s pushing me to upgrade at the moment other than the cameras have come on quite a long way. The thing about the bigger phones is the battery, they can pack more in so you get better endurance and when the battery does start to degrade it’s...

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

Oh god that’s an ergonomic disaster 😂 For a start, the top of the monitor should be level with or above your normal seated eye level. I’d definitely get a big monitor.
