The dx is great, but also it has big issues. Mainly being that I would rather change lenses at an event and risk missing a shot instead of using my two older 1 series bodies... Not good for my bank balance ha.
It was certainly a club night haha, well it was two nights but the second night was...
I mainly became obsessed with the shallow dof due to dj booths often having clutter, and hangers on I didn't want as visable.
That and I need as much light as possible, I have had to shoot iso 51,200 @ 1.2 a few times within the last year.
I always see that as my objective. A lot of people still want posed b****cks for new Facebook pics.... I will continue to ignore them haha...
Buying primes is getting a bit costly mind.
So im trying to change the way people think about club photos, get away from the tacky Iamvip/tillate/dsi crap and create something which is a touch more elegant and grown up.
This weekend one of my big clients decided they wanted me to push it more...
Those interested in my work can keep up...
Slightly different from those who may have seen my music work I post from time to time, I spent some time in Berlin recently and became fascinated by the way the people interact with their city.
Full set on my page -...
Ministry is elephant and castle so right next to LB.
Portrait stuff for next year - lets have a chat I may be able to put something together with you on that front.
On filters the cheap ones really are s**t imo.
Ive used them and its amazing how much they screw up the IQ.
Buy the best you can afford but imo most people dont need filters for most things.
Good stuff nick.
Glad you had a good year behind the camera. Know how tough things are in your sector at the moment with the number of SBF togs out there.
let us know when free for that beer
Kissy is wicked shot him last year at a festival I cover. Loved his headphones covered in different coloured eleccy tape haha!
Should have done afrojack, always good for crowd/atmosphere shots when I cover his nights (just a shame his tour manager is a bit OTT) Im not a fan of pete tong tbh...
More than hobby pounds. Obviously without discussing exact figures im happy, certainly earn more money and have more fun than the average high street retail job. Id like more which is why I also do press pics and corporate stuff on the side as theres less big music events each night with budget...
Gsums - its an interesting sector to be in, some events people can blag passes (its apparent from their pit behaviour) others are locked down. Still anyone can do it imo.
Koi - Im a freelance music tog so these are some of the recent events ive been hired for (ignoring the club stuff as said)...
Been an interesting month or so for me.. away from alot of club work been busy with a few other interesting bits.
Sooo pics..
Spent two days with wretch32 for his music video + live performance at KOKO in camden.
Also done a few events for alexandra palace inc...
Toolroom get everywhere these days. Theyre all lovely guys though and still very down to earth.
A ropey old 30D and siggy 10mm for the fisheye set up.
Rest will be mostly on 1dmk III (odd shot on the mkIIn) + 16-35 and 70-200.
Well 5th birthday for toolroom knights so its another music thread from me ;)
Awesome line up of, mark knight, D.Ramirez, funkagenda, fedde le grand, umek, michael woods etc..
Whole set on the fan page -www.facebook.com/RyanDinhamPhotographer
No real point in the whole pass for most people non agency IMO, they don't have an outlet to sell and often just get in the way. I know the pain about people expecting things for free, the whole 'credit' me army is a joke, people think that a credit is a form of payment. Be strong stand up for...
Well not really had much of my work on the forums of late, thought id share some of what is my big weekend of the year usually (5 events in a weekend).
Always exhausting but alot of fun, sadly the weather wasnt as good as previous years and the cherry picker was out of action from 2010 :(...
Nice to see someone with the 70. Ive got one but not used it in anger in about 6months. Need to sort a grid for it, TFC are doing them now if you are after one too.
How do you fit it in the clio easy lol!
A couple are a bit too dark for me but not all, the style of processing is very similar to tim wallace (ambient life).
Personally I dont see so much of an issue here with the logo, it looks 10x better than when I saw people moaning about it before, id just reduce the opacy a smidge and keep the...
