Hi all,
I need my cambelt 72k service doing in my Trophy and am seeking advice on reputable specialists to go to around the west midlands, Coventry, Warwick, Banbury, south Birmingham, Northampton broad area?
Cheers.
Nick.
Hi everyone,
I don't normally venture over here from the Trophy forum, but here I am!
Does anyone find the brake and clutch pedals slippery wet damp or wet, being made from ali?
I found this a problem in my 172 and still do in the Trophy. A couple of times my foot has slipped off the...
Hi all, Having had a 172 cup a couple of years ago, I'm back with a 182 Trophy (to be collected next week). Could anyone advise of a register for Trophy owners?
Nick.
I have a 172 cup and recently took it on the track for the first time.
Was really good, but just understeered way too easily.
I'd like to either drop the front slightly or play with the roll bars. I don't really want to touch the camber too much as it's perfect on the road, but might tweek...
GuyS, yeah, the pads will go like your fig c.
If your pedal goes to the floor, then i think there may be different faults with different cars here. As brian182 says, it could well be the master cylinder.
I would leave the ds2500s in, unless renault insist you put the originals back in until...
Yeah, ram pipe / trumpet, same thing, many names! Doesn't that cause a lot of turbulence? Would it not be better to have a fixed id pipe feeding straight to the tb? Or have a filter over the trumpet in a cold air box, or cold feed to it?
ds2500's are the bizz, fine for noraml road use, not just fast road, and great on trck too. If you're staying off the track i would get std discs, but from Renault, in my experience a lot of pattern parts are crap, but i'd like to be proven wrong! Again, for road use i would use any premium...
A couple of things on this topic:
Breifly on lipped discs, if your disc has an obvious lip, measure its thickness to make sure it is not worn to its limit. I don't know renaults very well, but if the minimum thickness is not engraved or stamped on the disc itself, a Renault dealer WILL be able...
The reason the steering wheel is not straight when it is on the ignition lock is because there are about 3 or 4 recesses for the lock to engage into in the column which are never postioned in the straight ahead position.
In my previous post, when i refered to the "steering lock" I was refering...
Quite right, there should be absolutely no need to take the steering wheel off to take it to the straight ahead position. (unless it's been off before for some reason and wasn't put back on straight...?)
If Kwikfit are doing their job properly, and lock the steering wheel in the straight...
You shouldn't have to rebuild the gearbox. You should be able to just remove the old diff and fit the new one, transfering the crown wheel. You would need to re-shim the diff when fitting it, i can imagine it being a nightmare trying to get the right sized shims out of renault.... I've not had...
Why did you take the head off in the first place? how many miles has the engine done? Has it been apart for any reason before? Any mods, like increased boost or altered fueling or ignition timing? What condition is the hg in?
You can never see anything like enough detail in a pictures of this...
Thanks for the Yozzasport link, looks like they could have some reasonable stuff. Was Going to talk to some of the Clio cup racers in the new year, as i work on a certain race series along side it.
Thanks.
HNY!
Hi, I've just got myself an 03/53 172 cup and want to take it on track, but I'm concerned about the capabilities of the brakes under track conditions. Any advice? I'd rather not go to a full blown kit with 4 pot calipers, but am probably looking at a big disc kit such as one of the top 2 here...
