182 brake failure

well brakes were put to the test today whether i wanted too or not . lol . driving along but wasn't paying attention when the car in front of me stopped for no reason . jumped on the brakes and they stopped dead , just how it should , if i had done this in the last month or so i would have run into the back of the car , so aint i glad they finally found and seem to have cured the problem , still not convinced changing disks and pads did this to the brakes but i cant seem to find the master cylinder to have a look if anything has been done there . perhaps somebody can enlighten me as to where it is on the 182 ? . thanks guys brian

its right down the back of the engine bay on the drivers side, have to remove the engine cover just to see it.

good luck with getting the alloy done under warranty mate. renault are as tight as i nuns c**t!(being french)

Any updates on this? Justin, have you managed to get your brakes sorted? Is the consensus that its a faulty brake master cylinder causing lack of brake assistance?

mine are still dangerously s**t!

on payday i may just bite the bullet and buy standard discs and pads and if its no better.. they got no excuses other than a caliper/mastercylinder fault

Now I am worried... Got the clunking thing... the third gear thing (sometimes)... the alarm kicking off if I open the door too quickly and yesterday i had the brake fade thing on my drive back to london... eeeek!!

Got my 182 back from the repair shop after my wife rammed the back of another car which had a tow-bar fitted, she blamed the brakes saying she pressed as hard as she could but the car wouldnt stop. luckily my insurance xs was only £120. car needed new bumper, cross member, & air con radiator. I decided to check the brakes myself on a road test & they were no where near as good as the ones on her pug 206, I couldnt get them to lock up, or get the ABS working no matter how hard I tried.I hadnt noticed how bad they were as you just get used to them when your driving all the time. So, I ordered the greenstuff set from yozzasport £170 incl P&P. removed the old brakes, one set of pads were so shot; one pad fell out & actually split into 3 pieces. have fitted the new pads & discs today & had a little test drive, they are 100% better & thats before I fit the braided hose & change the fluid. I think its fairly obvious its my fault in this case, through not checking my brakes regularily my wife crashed the car & luckily for me she wasnt hurt. From now on I'm not taking anymore chances, new brakes, regular checks & she is never driving my car again..!

having lots of trouble now. bled brakes. flushed through. still probs. luckily my abs ring flew off so i had no abs to help me brake abit. although they just fade now.

just out of interest has anyone of you lot with problems painted your calipers?

You must have sliders otherwise only 1 of your two pads would wear and the brakes would be rubish.
