It's a fixed beam that's designed to bend in cornering. Loads of Clios seem to have slightly bent rear beams from minor low speed crashes (sliding into a curb at 3 mph on ice for example).
- Doesn't sound like tyre pressures (underinflated wears both edges, overinflated wears only the middle)...
This is a really interesting point!!! The adverts all grab your attention with peak torque but don't mention sustained torque or quality of the battery.
Clio 182: 200 NM @ 5000 RPM = 135 BHP
Impact Gun: 500 NM @ 5 RPM = 0.3 BHP
You're very welcome to borrow my impact gun (one of these ~£160...
Yet they pay out for ridiculously overpriced repair bills (as discussed) in turn inflating the cost of claims massively beyond that of a hire car... and then the consumer pays for it via increased premiums to match increasing repair costs.
Sorry that's a crap answer now that I read it again.
A compressor map has 4 variables as I said:
* PR on Y axis (calculates/calculated from boost pressure: (PR/intake P) - intake P = boost)
* SC speed (thick lines in the middle, I'd probably agree with your equation)
* Thermal efficiency of the...
Pressure Ratio - ratio of intake to charged pressure, so yes a ratio of 3 would = 2bar of boost assuming 1bar intake (e.g. atmospheric pressure)
Airflow - Mass airflow, fairly self explanatory. This is relevant because mass airflow is proportional to torque.
SC RPM - Again self explanatory
%...
Being slap bang in the middle sounds great, but the majority on CS seem to find it pointless.
Pointless on track because it's noticeably worse than a traditional track day tyre in the dry, but doesn't offer much/any better life or wet weather performance.
Pointless on the road because the wet...
Definitely not, the i5 is absolutely leagues ahead.
"Higher number is better" is unfortunately a naive assumption, pounced on by marketing departments. Just like cars, this engine produces more peak power so it must be better, the touring car version uses the same engine block so your road car...
Isn't this an immediate & automatic call to 111 to report two vehicles leaving the scene of an accident?
Allegedly the police take this extremely seriously?!
Even if you don't get a confession of guilt & their insurance to pay for your car (insurance route seems pointless anyway given that...
No no broadly speaking you've got the correct definition of maximum droop travel. You're just having a funny moment regarding "sag" as you call it.
- If you move a door 1 meter to open it, then you have to move it 1 meter to close it.
- If "just the weight of the car" makes the suspension "sag"...
I personally think you are missing the point a little for a track/race car, whilst also making a valid point for road cars.
It's not going to save you 30 seconds a lap. There's no need for road users to go around burning 16" wheels & tyres. But given that the OP is building a race/track car...
Lack of rebound travel can definitely cause a knock (afterall there is something mechanical inside every damper that will limit travel, more expensive dampers have internal springs and flexible plastic washers to stop metal on metal contact causes knocking noises etc).
15mm of droop isn't...
Reasons to want smaller wheels:
Less inertia
Less unsprung mass = less vertical contact patch load variation (managing vertical load is arguably the whole entire objective of racing car design)
Allows a higher aspect ratio & bigger sidewall (fast road cars run low profile tyres for looks, but...
Generally it's a disappointingly non-technical presentation delivered by someone very clever who can't answer a single question because everything is secret...
Ironically (or maybe on purpose?) it's probably much more suited to car enthusiasts than ImechE members. You do meet some interesting...
I have that jack with a different sticker on it. Car is on Cooksport springs. The jack does reach the triangular subframe supports on a flat tarmac drive.
Frankly if you're going to insist on being any lower then it's really not too much of a chore to roll the car onto a thin bit of wood or...
That's the s*** roller wheel version I was on about lol.
You can buy direct from (what appears) to be the OEM and save a bunch of money. The best version (double piston & fixed wheels) is the same price as the worst Costco stickered one lol...
Definitely. User manual says 460mm max height for the double-piston-double-wheel version. http://www.sgs-engineering.com/media/manuals/TJA2.5.pdf
The single piston/roller-wheel versions are very similar in terms of height.
Basically there are only 2 or 3 companies that manufacture jacks. Halfords, Draper, Clarke, Costco, B&Q, Bluepoint, SGS Engineering etc all buy from the same place and paint it a different colour and slap their own label on. Due to this, there really isn't as much choice at it would first seem...
If you gave a more all-round premium tyre a go (e.g. the Michelin) I think you might be shocked at how "full of dry grip" a road tyre can be.
Of course I completely agree with myself though, by a freak of nature really important design characteristics such as the sidewall stiffness (a tyre is a...
You're just getting it confused
The vast majority of people on here will tell you that the T1R is a pretty poor choice. It is afterall only priced to be a low-end tyre. You'll probably get much more enjoyment out of your car (and not to mention probably more life, safety and less road...
No reason why you can't drill a 20mm hole for convenience. It's not going to make any practical difference to how well the sump is protected (the one Sonny mentions probably already has a hole).
Only being picky since it's 99.99999999999999999% immaculate... when it's sunny/warm/nice again do you fancy putting a few more self tapers in the splitter to get rid of the gap that light shines through? :D
...I go off-roading daily in the quest for a parking space so mine is battered.
I'm glad you got the price of the Recaros down, seems a reasonable deal in the end. Thanks for the tyre fitting recommendations. I'm just after cheap tyre fitting on winter/track wheels etc so I'll give Brookos a go next time.
Yep, I think a mini-meet could be good. Oxford was chosen as the "in...
FLOL at how literal the thread title is r.e. "entire car."
I'd strongly recommend you also remove the plasti dip from the rear BRAKE LIGHT, windscreen/rear-window washers, xenon washers and passenger door lock!
On a more positive note, it would be interesting to see this "purple" effect &...
