I'll be dropping the rear beam on my Clio at some point and one thing I want to do in an effort to make life a little easier is plug the brake lines.
I see @Amos91 did something similar, anyone know where I can get these blanks/plugs from?
Cheers,
But this (my issue, which isn't a issue, in the picture) in the picture is fine?
How'd you change the disc when the studs are locktight'd in, crack them free?
Again, never changed the disc/hub on the rear of a Clio so I am totally wet behind the ears. Ha.
Riiight.
So it's not like the front? Where you can slip the disc over the studs.
Of all my clios I've never touched the rear discs. So this area is new to me.
Appreciate the replies.
Hello,
Fitting a stud and nut kit to the rear of the clio and the shoulder/knob/wide but doesn't go through the disc.
If I were to fit these (with locktite) I wouldn't be able to take the disc off?
Are these the wrong studs?
Yes I need new discs.
Funnily enough, had a call from the powdercoater today and the subframe and other bits are done. I just couldn't get them today. Pick them up Monday.
Been keeping busy by refreshing the calipers as they were multiple colours and peeling. Stripped them back and gone for an OEM silver.
Once the...
Knowing I'd have a fresh Subframe and ARB (and powerflex purple bushes) I could have old or at least rusty dirty hardware on it.
Saw a hack on here about using citric acid to freshen things up.
Overall pretty happy with how they came out.
However the outer ARB brackets were beyond saving...
We got the Subframe off and eventually got the PAS line (that caused us to remove the Subrframe) off.
Filled the PAS rack with fluid, went to fit the loop kit and I soon found out why the one line wouldn't come out, it had been cross threaded somehow. This now meant I couldn't loop the rack...
I have many an update.
Firstly, picking up where I left off.
The USB port issue abiuve was solved with a new USB plug. Wasn't a wiring issue but a fault with the USB port itself.
It goes mildly down hill from here.
I wanted to fit EPAS as my PAS system was leaking and at the last track...
Should add, the USB port/cigarette lighter still doesn't work but the CD player and climate does.
Any help/advice/common issues before I mess something else up?
I collected the Clio, probably 2 weeks ago now, thought I'd updated this....anyway here it is
It took a little while longer that anticipated, however it was worth the wait. The bodyshop also fitted the trophy spoiler which really sets it off.
When I collected the Clio I asked if it...
For anyone googling or searching for an immobiliser answer, mine was the 15amp USB fuse in the engine bay. Looked visually fine but it turned out to be goosed.
Replaced fired back in to life.
Still no cigarette lighter power....problem for another day.
For a while my cigarette lighter (which is a USB port now due to previous owner) hasn't worked. I set about trying to fix it this weekend.
I popped a multi meter on the wire/s to the USB/Cig lighter and some how shorted it. I heared a noise, albeit brief. Then the CD player and climate was...
Bodyshop emailed earlier in the week with an update and I asked if I could drop the spoiler off and have a look at it, which they had no problem with.
Dropped the spoiler and side skirts off which will be fitted when I collect next week.
I spoke to the actual fabricator to understand...
Popped to see @Toms_clio at the weekend to collect a replica V6 spoiler in RB. Believe it come from @Jekyll 's old car.
No news on when I'm getting the clio back, but it's booked for an MOT on Saturday, hopefully I get it back before then.
Also booked tickets to ClioSport Festival!
Bodywork update.
Firstly, it's in the bodyshop dropped it off 2 weeks ago
Any one else have anxiety when dropping a car off to have work done "please don't ring me with bad news!"
2 weeks later and no phone call, no news is good news?
There's a play centre right next door to the bodyshop...
Thanks both.
@Louis good info in the resistors will remove and try again.
@hopgop1 I think so. I mean, I've had a beer....so maybe. No I definitely did. 👀
Yes, another airbag light "help" request.
Right then, recently I bought an RS tuner with airbag module. I was able to turn off all the airbag lights/sensors but when I went over bumps/turned the wheel the light would come back on. Over another bump and off and repeat.
I plugged in the RS...
Update, worth a read kind of.
RS Tuner:
Since I've had my first clio, I always wanted to get my hands on an RS Tuner to see what the fuss was about and currently turn off the bloody airbag light.
@Don’t call me Dave dropped me a DM as he was selling and knew I wanted one.
What @Don’t call...
Studs are 82mm tip to tip.
On the spacer thing, it's a real mix of opinion. Some say no bigger than X and others say (like @Louis ) 20mm is fine. I've not driven it yet so can't comment.
@MrBlonde - Sliding into your dm's for spacers as I'd like the option to change it up etc.
No real updates as I'm waiting for my slot at the bodyshop, my garage is full of building materials which is stopping me from getting stuck in and the weather is mehhhhh. I've also been busy with my daily.
I did find time to fit a stud&nut kit and some 18mm spacers to the front of the car.
...
I chased a 3rd quote today, they're renound for their work in my part of the world. It's a busy place, which I know speaks volumes but chasing for 3 weeks (they replied once and were nice enough) is annoying.
Hopefully I'll have it booked it and I'll get this bit and the fuel filler done too...
Thanks both.
I am also parts gathering, so far I have bought
PMS AC delete v2
EPAS setup
Battery relocation to the boot
and need/to do:
Tyres for the 2118's as the Toyos on them are dead (I have GITI's on the Team Dynamics)
Rear discs and pads
Quite like the idea of a rear cage
Refurb rear...
