Managed to go for my first socially distanced drive out yesterday and caught up with @MrBlonde in his minty fresh Titanium and his friend Will in his lovely black Meg. Took a leisurely jaunt out to Bradwell and even stopped for some snaps. So nice to get out and drive for just the enjoyment of...
Just updating this as I had my Whitelines in since November and they have been superb. Nice taught feeling from the rear axle with no detrimental effects, noises or issues.
If you have 1144 in front and like them, just add the same to the rears. They will have the same bite and torque characteristics so will behave like OEM in terms of balance.
Thanks a lot mate, i still have about a million things i want to do with it. So many ideas for stuff, its just a case of getting enough time to work out how to do certain things.
Like all of us i suspect just not enough time or money.
Some do, some don’t. However I’ve always taken the view that If they squeal it’s a reminder of 2 things.
1) You have proper pads in there, so a bit of squeal isnt a big deal.
2) You’re not using them hard enough.
Hand on heart, I’ve never had an issue. You wait, now I’ve said that, these...
If you don’t use them properly yes they squeal like a mofo. However I’ve used them in my Impreza for years, my Mini GP and my Cayman R also has RS29s all round and none of them squeal at all.
So you may or may not have read the thread discussing brake pad choices.
My pads of choice arrived today, I chose these based on my own experience as I’ve used them for years on my other cars.
Pagid RSL29s front
Pagid RS4-2 rears
I also dropped my black Turinis a the powdercoaters yesterday...
When i ordered mine from AST just before Christmas they told me they were specifically valved for the spring rates and i could go up or down on the spring rates by a small amount before they would need re-valving.
I had a set of Intrax on my Mini GP1 which i really didn't rate or get on with, i...
Sounds like somethings a miss there Zach unless somethings significantly changed.
I'm using R888s on the road so hardly lacking in grip and i don't have anywhere near the Citroen CV type roll you're claiming.
I get weight transfer yes, but bodyroll, not really. Yes id want stiffer if racing on...
Even at 70/40 on the road and just above mid point damping, its significantly harsher than the Cayman Rs suspension.
No way id go higher than that on the road as they car simply wont work and be awful to be in.
More than likely the production cost vs items sold. Simply they probably sell 10x the amount of front pads than they do rears.
I find it equally annoying that a set of front Pagid RS29s of the Clio (which are tiny) are basically the same money as the ones for my Porsche which must be 3x the size!
The Clio isn’t exactly lacking in rigidity however I think a front brace is more beneficial in Supporting the loads exerted by a solid Topmount providing its of the design that bolts you the topmounts such as the PMS
Funny you ask mate as i am waiting for them to be delivered. I have kind of chickened out and gone with what i know works and i like.
Ive gone back to Pagid and after numerous discussions it took me little time to decide on them as i just love them.
So opted for RSL29s up front and the RS4-2 for...
Funny enough im treading a similar path.
I have not long fitted AST 5100s to my 182, previously on Cup dampers. The problem with many off the peg coilovers is they're designed primarily for track any are just too highly sprung for the road. Perfect for a polished surface but on bumps and...
My GP never had a rear wiper and BMW changed the whole rear screen on the GP to delete it. It was a pain in the arse sometimes but i did like the clean look on it and was one of the cool quirks of the car. Yet they then went and put huge leather heated Recaros in it #facepalm!!
The Cayman...
