Airbox support was no issue, I just bolted through that bracket then the cover so the support is on the outside of the cover. Stock air feeds I just chopped the arch in the side of the cover larger to clear them
Epic day yesterday at Mallory, for now quick pic of the car in road and 'race' trim and link to YouTube video of a few laps including dice about with my mate Dan in his Red F4R powered mk1.
Car handled a peach, so happy it's back performing as it should. Just need to start trusting my brakes...
I get rarity and appreciation etc, but my resounding memory of the phase 2 V6 was blowing the doors off my mates one with my low boost mk1 Clio about 14 years ago. They're a catastrophically bad car in stock form, can't corner, can't accelerate, just comedy slow and lumbering. That memory has...
Fair enough although iirc the 6th makes very little difference at cruise as the 197 are short geared to improve acceleration to overcome all that extra mass that makes them feel refined...or disconnected depending on how you look at it. However they sit on a bloody brilliant chassis, absolutely...
Couple from a wash other day, paint is so badly marred, needs a buff at the very least like you wouldn't believe!

Also gave her a wipe with a rag and sealed the...
Brakes squeal like a bastid so I've ordered some Mintex 1144 for road use, hopefully that'll make it manageable.
Also a sidelight blew so swapped those out for new.
Nothing else new to report really, just counting down the days to Mallory
Probably quite rare as they'll be late registered cars basically they gave away as the mk3 was being sold. Build date could be anytime though, may of sat about years
Andy (Snappy) sorted me a new gear gaiter, oem+ approach again so went alacantra with white stitching and moved the stitch from the front which the stock one had to the rear so you can see it. Next job is the handbrake cover to match.

Unsurprising really, to me that says people who've owned it in past haven't kept it long and as such probably unlikely to be project thread or similar kind of folks
