You look at it and it unlocks. Then you have to swipe up to open the phone to the home screen

People suggesting the note I understand why, but coming from a 5S I think it'll be a little bit too big for him. I'd go and look at a Pixel 2. Not the XL as that'll be huge for you, but Pixel 2 will be spot on size wise. I really wish I hadn't got used to the larger phones back with the nexus...

Yep. But with Google being Google I'm half tempted to wait now. When I bought the original 6 they had an issue where the screen would just stop working and they replaced them and changed the screen on later models. So I'm hoping they do the same

Looks great. Going for coilovers doesn't mean you have to go lower. Just means you'll have more adjustability on track if you go for damping adjustable ones. Or you could just get adjustable shocks I suppose.
