5 years with the Clio now. Hardly the cheap track car I intended! Looks like Silverstone is going ahead on the 5th. One last blast before the end of the year and what a year it’s been for the old girl....
This one (Pistonheads team) crashed in quali and still went on to finish 2nd at the weekend.
I was a delivery driver at Ford when they came out (I’m very old!) and had many a fun drive in them. They are what they are. It’s going to make the Clio feel fast....
The Clio’s still tucked away. I’ve got an oil leak to address. It might involve open heart surgery but I’ve a few bits to check/change before I commit to that 🙄
The good news is I’ve booked onto Silverstone December 5th (if we’re not in lockdown).
But the better new is I’ve purchased another...
How about the splitter/spoiler? Will they be available after the brake ducts? I don’t mind running a test set if you need to trial them on a silver car.........😉😂
Making the most of the car this week. It’s been on daily duties still covered in grime.
Today out came the snow foam and some elbow grease to get her back up to a good standard before I tucked her away ready for the next trackday which fingers crossed might be before the end of the year.....
No problem, I hired it from here -

I can’t say how good this one was. It had the electric winch, the bed was great as the straps stayed attached whilst you can drive the car on. Also had a fair turn of speed......
I opted for damage...
With so much changing it’s hard to pinpoint the exact gains. The car is definitely turning better and more agile at the rear. For the money it’s a good mod
Just received the photos through from Snett.
I do like this one as I can’t remember the inside rear wheel coming off the floor before the rear beam was strengthened
Snetterton 12th Oct
After the Bedford disaster I was fairly apprehensive above this one TBH. Being 2 miles around the corner was nice. The Clio was unloaded and I completed a few final checks and off we set on the siting laps with no issues. The track was slippy with overnight dew/rain. The...
The brake duct idea didn’t work so I sacked that off and just resorted back to what I’ve been running which to be fair has never caused me any issues.
Last job was to replace the fuel pump seal. Borrowed these grips of a mate. They just became my new fav tool as the cap came off so easily
We...
Preps going well for Monday. The DS1.11 are back in and the de - cat is back on. What a difference that makes! The cars washed. I took it up the road and the waters staying in the engine for a change!
I’ve taken the paint off of where the wheel nuts hold the wheels on. School boy error as I...
Snetterton’s a week today and there’s a few items to get on top of this weeks. First up the water leaks 😳🤬
Before the rebuild I had zero water leaks so after changing all the pipes to silicon, new header tank, new radiator and new Mikalor clips I expected zero leaks. Turns out the Mikalor...
Bedford 3rd August - the bad...
Note - I'll always be honest even when it goes wrong (It has taken a month to write this!). Hopefully people can learn from my mistakes as I've learnt from others
Without doubt the worst track day I've done and that includes the one where the engine blew up on...
TBH I can’t remember. I thought I had a photo but I don’t. I’ll have a look when I get a min. Mine are a little to long. I’ve kinked them slightly and cables tied them so the hoop is just hanging out of the bumper. If I need to use them then they will snap as they’re thin ties.
My final set for my rain/road tyres. OZ f1’s in black. Black always looks crap in photos but they look smart in real life. Even managed to get a set of centre caps to match the graphics
Bedford 3rd August - the good...
We set off Sunday to Bedford which is circa 80 miles from my house. I went cross country to give the car a little work out. My in-laws now live 6 miles away which is handy so we made camp there.
The journey up was uneventful. When I got there I had a little...
Last prep today. The weather forecast has been forecasting rain for Monday’s trackday but over the last couple of days this has changed to a dry forecast. Happy days as I can take these two sets of wheels and leave the rainsports at home.
I’ve changed out the coil pack as a preventative...
So the last few weeks have been tough with regards the Clio. I've had a couple of issues. With work back up to full speed I simply haven't had times to address the issues. The main issue were the car had developed a couple of leaks. One was the end cap on the gearbox and the other one seemed to...
I’ve run DS1.11 on a 182 with 197 Brembo’s on. For the £££ I wouldn’t swap them for anything else. I have zero issues all day long weather it’s hot, cold or wet. They last well as well
