Back on it again today.
Rear bilsteins are fitted, as are the rear lights, boot catch, boot seal, black spoiler (not a cup one but doubt I will ever notice any difference). Positioned the wiring to the rear lights, just need to sort some clips or something. Started to position and mount the...
Definitely get a rear arb, set to hard they will oversteer a treat, really helps turn in too.
I've never had a problem with cable setup handbrake but the new car is having a vertical hydraulic one!
Very close to some!! Hairpin bends round them etc.
First rally I ever did by Telford, we were flying down this Lane and the road went 45 right into 45 left, but straight on at the 45 right was someone's drive. One of the competitors in a Talbot sunbeam went straight down the drive into the...
Nah, but at 3am there ain't much traffic about and all houses within a certain distance of the rally route are PR'd to make them aware there is a rally on that night.
Yeah, my 2 year old V2 is no longer legal as it doesn't have hans posts. Havnt decided whether to hire or buy a new helmet (I can borrow a hans) as I doubt I will do many this year
Cetus stages at Wigan.
As I've been sprinting on there the last 2 years and previously codriven on there I thought it would be the best event for me to start on with the new car.
Might need a codriver yet Mark if my mates misses can't swop her work shift!!
Todays update.......I have decided it needs sorting a bit quicker so to motivate myself I have set a target of 6 weeks to get it finished as I am going to enter a rally!
Finally managed to get the rest of the interior painted, should have finished it yesterday but ran out of paint. Not a perfect job but looks a lot better than blue and primer.
Before
After
Whilst that was drying I fitted the driveshafts, hubs and new bilstein suspension.
Still no brakes...
Sounds like it's only had light front damage, wouldn't bother me as long as the chassis legs were undamaged.
Probably a lot of cars out there that have had a bit of damage and had stuff replaced and not been recorded.
Having to work all weekend so not getting to the garage to work on the car but I have managed to skim my rotors in my dinner hour. Will hopefully do my spigot rings, sort the hubs and fit the longer studs tomorrow.
Can't rebuild my AP calipers yet as I'm still waiting for the correct size seals...
I've just sprayed mine with the Aldi metal spray paint in grey. Come out alright.
Also use the Aldi black paint to spray the metal dash bar thingy too.
£2.99 a can
Spent the afternoon spraying a bit of the inside today so I can get the dash back in.
I have sprayed the metal dash bar thingy gloss black, the front pillars, front edge of the roof and upper front bulkhead in satin black, and the front footwells are now anthracite (the rest of the interior will...
Feck.
Thanks for the quick reply @NorthloopCup , that's the easy option out the window then.
Also noticed on th TB that the diameter is small on the cable one where the airbox pipe clamps on so I will have to source a ph1 pipe too.
I should have looked into this a bit more before getting the ph1...
As title really, what are the differences between the ph1 172 inlets compared to the ph2 172 inlets
I know the throttle bodies are different ie one is cable, the other fbw, but are the hole pitches for the TB the same?
Is the only other difference the holes for the idle control valve the only...
@NorthloopCup Sorry for all the questions, but I would like to get it sorted soon.
I currently have the ph1 inlet and cable throttle body fitted, ph2 engine loom and ph2 ecu.
I do have in the garage a complete ph1 engine loom and ecu.
I want to go to the cable throttle for reliability and...
Been at it again today, alloy radiator, slam panel, lights, bumper and wings on now.
Plugs, coil pack and leads on.
New ph1 upper and lower inlet and throttle body now fitted, just need to work out the wiring. Just working out the positions for the extinguisher nozzles and fuel line route.
Glad I've found this as I'm fitting a cable throttle onto my cup and was wondering about the plug situation
@NorthloopCup
Hopefully I can work it all out from this.
Or do I need to fit ph1 ecu and engine loom?
Had a few hours in the garage again today.
Engine wiring loom pretty much all in, exhaust manifold bolted up and alloy rad and slam panel trial fitted
I then moved inside to see about trying to get rid of the airbag wiring crap.
That's not a lot of fun and any advice welcome!!
Getting there...
