The AGU has the better engine mate, it has a better flowing head and a few additions to the bottom end meaning you can get over 300 bhp with standard internals - the later ones are a bit cheaper made - still great mind.
What you want is an AGU with a Ko3S hybrid, decent intercooler, 3 inch...
What year is it mate? Is it an AGU or AUM? AGU has a k03, so won't really flow any more than about 190-195bhp, the AUM has the ko3s and will flow to 235 ish.
Easy way to tell is the AGU is cable throttle and AUM is DBW
Hi mate
It is possible but I cannot see it would make the insurance any cheaper - although it will have less power, it will still be classed as a Renaultsport and will also be classed as modified due to it being changed (different engine)
Plus it would end up being costly, so good thinking...
For the sake of the price of a new gasket and bolts is it worth taking the chance? If it works you have saved your self about £80, if it doesn't work you will have to rip the head off again - i'd just spend the extra and put new ones on IMO
Flol! the previous owner did LOADS of bits on it, including completely stripping and rebuilding the light mechanisms - i'll grab a photo next time I have the bonnet up - it looks mint all around the lights, brackets etc! He also fitted loads of stainless nuts and bolts around the engine bay -...

This was a member off the owners club mate, wasn't actually advertised
Cheers mate, you can have a drive x
Yeah, most were mate, they did an N/A version but only about 160 were sold
Knowzit ;)
Short back and sides sir? :D
T'was...
Certainly will mate :)
Will be going very easy mind, it's only done 1000 miles in the past 7 years, and the tyres although have plenty of tread are about 7 years old so will be taking it easy
I'm not sure if it has already been chipped mate, the boost gauge shows close to a bar of boost (somewhere around 0.8-0.9 bar) which would indicate it has been chipped, but i'm not putting a load of trust in a 23 year old Lotus gauge lol - you can download something called elanscan which is...
You know me ;)
Great to see you too fella, must catch up again soon :)
It is mate :)
It's not bad - it leaks along the rear edges of the door glasses but a bit of adjustment should solve that - it is bone dry everywhere else :)
I was offered this car from a member off the Lotus forum for a price I simply couldn't turn down,so yesterday I made the 7 hour round trip (Thanks to the M6 being closed where we wanted to go  ) to collect my next Lotus :)
After a long, dark (And wet :o ) trip home, I am now the...
No no no.
If you want someone to either notice you as a driver, or notice your team, that is a fantastic way of sticking out in the crowd - very clever bloke
Doing small mods (ie reversible stuff) like wheels etc is fine mate, nothing wrong with a few choice mods, but never do anything you can't take off - example being if you fitted a set of 15 inch alloys with decent tyres, then fitted a set of quality lowering springs, this would cost you around...
Very kind dude, but I really just need a straight sale - the interest in it has been crazy , I must haver had 25 different people wanting more info, I have had 3 offers around £1750, but I am not going that low.
