Wrong. I have a T reg Mk3 Golf estate diesel and I love it! can chuck anything in the boot, does 60mpg all day every day and owes me under £400 lol

Great cars, ive had a few! Loved my last one, would run like a steam train all the way to an indicated 152mph. Make sure the chains are quiet - if you here a grating sound then the plastic tensioners are wearing. Not a fun job to do - gearbox off

bear in mind everything rubber will need replacing I can see someone throwing another grand into that to make it useable.

I expect it will be worn out mate - it only rubs against a piece of metal, like a heater resistor does - you can take it apart (only a few screws) and tighten it up, or buy another from another member - you can normally test it by pushing it hard in different directions to try to make it contact

In my experience (With VW, Audi and Vauxhall, and now Massey Ferguson lol) they all come filled full from factory - but then again it wouldn't surprise me if some didn't
