Just to revive this, I am looking to get an EPAS setup, I have a column and ecu etc, but not yet sourced a rack. Am I better off looping my current rack?
Seems like it would save a lot of hassle.
Cheers.
Mine lasted 6 months, and were absolutely buggered! One was completely siezed and the other was loose like yours. I paid 50 quid and delivery to them, they swapped them and returned for that price. Nick recommended hosing the underside down after a drive in salty conditions, but said there is no...
Ive got a mapco kit to fit, thanks for the info. Any tips for pusing the seal in?
Ive just had my pms bearings swapped, 50 quid and pms swapped them for free.
Hi all,
I know I need the rack itself, and the ecu, but do I need the bottom part of the column with the rubber and the pinch bolt, or would I be able to use my existing on on my 172...
Looks well mate, Flame Red is such a great colour!
MAPCO seal definately a diy job then? I need to sort mine out.

Hi all,
Looking into suspension on my 172, which currently has ktec coilies on.
I had eibach sportlines on my 182, which I always thought sat a bit high, but handled amazingly.
I am looking to strip out the 172 (rear bench etc. and buckets), has anyone got pics/project thread for how this...
Well, some of you may remember me from 2012 when I had a BG 182.
Spent a small fortune sorting it out, only for it to be written off by an inconsiderate Zafira driver!
Anyway, 3 years on and I have just yesterday picked up a Pearl Black 172. 86k, belts done by Dan@SJM.
Mods are Ktec...
1.9tdi VAG - Leon/A3/Golf/Octavia. Comfortable, get one that hasnt been messed with and they are good, reliable cars. I had zero problems with mine and did around 30k in it in 18 months, mainly motorway miles.
It is the sort of car;
a) people buy cheap, realise they might not be able to afford to maintain it, sell it on.
b) buy it to 'experience' the hype, sell it on.
It wouldnt bother me if it drives well and if you can tell its been looked after.
