Good shocks, great service, but the coating is cr*p IMO. I had custom GAZ Gold's on my E30, specced by GAZ with their corrosion free coating etc... it was a track only car, trailered and stored indoors. Never used in the wet and never saw the road. The shock bodies started rusting after 6...
Cool. So when you've used them for a bit, does it feel like you've got manual brakes (harder pedal) and more effort from yourself is required to get the car to stop? Or does the pedal just go soft and not do much?
Its usually only when the wheels are pre-heated far too much before coating, causing the properties of the alloy to change and creating weakness. Quite common when the company does not know what they are doing... otherwise its fine.
No single figure in mind really, I know what they have been selling for on eBay with tax/MOT though etc. Its a solid well sorted run-about with all the work done, just needs driving. Only getting rid as its too small for me, I've got a replacement (estate) diesel already!
Selling my run-about, any questions please ask. Last few tanks have given me 625-650miles reliable motoring!

Generally depends on the profile too, and tyre itself (if it has sidewall protection etc). We run 205/50 on an 8J rim and its completely square, yet we need 215 to make a 45 look square.
They are only the same price R888 used to be, before all the hype and Toyo realising people will pay whatever the price just to have an R888.
Lots of reports of cracking across the tread, bad batches, etc, but over 11/12 tyres used on track days only I've yet to have an issue. They offer good...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
Yeah, I've got no plans for the next day as of yet so not in a major rush. Its going for some welding/rust repair on the battery tray and a few other areas this weekend, so once thats out of the way I can hopefully concentrate on sorting the engine once and for all!
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
In all honesty dude hes useless. I've had issues with him in the past which I won't go into - its more so he tries to take on more than he can work to I think.
Chris at CRM has an M50 in sort of bits, which isn't too far from me, but I ideally want him to agree to...
Great tyre for the money, obviously some people will say otherwise as they just love to brand wh*re R888s etc. I paid £59 each for 205/45/16 last year (225 R888 are £140ea) done 3 full days on them and they are not even half worn yet, perform well for longer when hot too IMO.
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
Well I've never had a 'track spec' 172 as such. Had the Mk1 with 172 engine and running gear, and I'd say this is quicker than the Mk1, much better to drive also. The Mk1 used to outpace a normal 172 quite easily.
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
With the forecast looking great for Cadwell, loaded all the spares and fluids, filled with fuel and got over there early with the usual bunch. After a quick check over, tyre pressures set, we got out on track. In summary, I didn't have to touch the car all day...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
So in the weeks coming up to Cadwell, I needed to get a few other bits sorted, aside from messing about with engine blocks. Replaced the oil/filter first off. Then I noticed a bit of a whine from the PAS pump under load, so wanted to swap it out for the M3 one I had...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
So the past 4 days have been sorting bits and pieces out ready for Cadwell on Saturday.
I wanted to change the rear N/S driveshaft as I thought it was noisy, but after closer inspection, the bearing had gone again!!
I went and got a bearing the next day, pulled...
The braid would probably just frey. Ideally you need a weld on fitting to do it properly, which then gives you a thread to screw on to. Otherwise just use rubber hose throughout IMO
For a 'proper' job, you'd get a weld on boss in AN10/JIC -10, and get it TIG'd on. Then you could just screw on to it - a lot of people do this with rocker covers etc, not on F4R's mind. Its a tough one as the push on fitting is already there, and not much option to use any different
JIC and AN are essentially the same thing. As long as your using the same taper angle (37deg) between the fittings it will work fine. My oil lines and take off are AN10, yet the cooler is JIC.
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
It will get sorted, just whenever I find the right block. Not 100% sure how thats going to happen yet, but we'll see. Just lucky the current engine is still working OK so no real big issue!
Never the less I got a full day in on it today, sorted out a lot of small...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
Well that's the engine build put on hold now. Just got the M50 block back from the machine shop and the bores are too worn to use again...
So all its good for is scrap!
It was refaced then put on for honing. Where the top ring finishes on the piston the bore is...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
If I wasn't in a rush for it to be built up I would have probably waited for one to come up closer - but really it would have cost another £60-70 for a pallet to be couriered. It cost less than that in fuel..
Dropped the block off early this morning at a local...
