Seat turned up along with a new harness, could only get 1 as tweeks onlt had the one in stock.
Safety Devices cage also arrived Friday. A few more parts to fit with this cage than the one I had for the 172, but doesn't require any welding, just a few holes with spreader plates through the...
Tyres are being fitted at the minute by a local garage after a mobile fitter ballsed it up :rage:so picking them up on Friday and hopefully will then get the pads bedded in.
Booked on Oulton Park for next Wednesday, just had notice the passenger seat is on its way from Poland so might just make...
Got the DS1.11 pads fitted, was dreading trying to get the pins out after reading how badly they get stuck but a drive punch and 4lb lump hammer swiftly sorted them. Clean them up, changed the pads and refitted. Now need to bed them in which involves a series of progressively higher speed stops...
Some parts turned up
Spacers and stud conversion from Nick @pure-motorsport great service as ever
Fitted studs with some thread lock and fitted spacers.
Not the best picture but wheels now fill the arches properly, going to be running slightly wider R1Rs so will add another 5 mm of...
Just ordered some 21mm hubcentric spacers and stud and nut conversion from Pure Motorsport, and I've been looking at the side skirts and splitter but I'll get the mechanical stuff finished off then probably get the body kit bits to finish it off.
Other stuff I've just ordered includes another...
Finally got around to taking the head off the engine that failed at oulton park in the 172 turbo.
That's cylinder 3,by far the worst. There was also crap in the sump
Suspension torqued, springs changed, DRE shift light fitted in front of cluster using canbus converter to get signal, filled up with super unleaded and went for a test run...
Couple of issues, getting very hot every time you go near the throttle, and stop and low battery warning coming on...
Also bled the clutch, everyone seems to have problems with these but I've done this a load of times now and it's never a problem.
Jobs left:
Torque suspension, change rear springs, finish fitting rear carpet, mount lap timer and shift lights.
More progress. Got the exhaust finished and diffuser refitted.
Finished the wiring off, mounted the fuse boxes, then made a bracket to hold the Clio 172 header tank. Everything seems to work, no warning lights on the dash. Had esp/asr disabled message but just need to slowly turn wheel from...
If anyone has any ECU advice or recommendations that would be massively helpful
I did it using all the Megane wiring and clocks etc, project thread is RS250ish, currently finishing putting the engine in a 197 as I wasn't happy with the brakes on the 172. Don't weld your driveshafts, mine...
Not technically the first start as when I pressed the start button everything went off.... needed to tighten the earth from the battery. Wiring's not finished, still working way through all the wires, done 2 out of the 3 plugs but shouldn't take much longer. Couldn't work out why the doors where...
Couple more things done tonight before I head off to Portugal for a mate's wedding for the weekend. Got the front bumper on with no dramas, little bit of trimming required to the driver's side foglight to clear the oil cooler and that's it.
Obligatory holes added to bumper, just put them...
Added a steel support bar across the front and bolted the intercooler up, then finally settled on where to put the oil cooler and made a support bar for that too. Lights are in, and made a start in connecting up the coolant lines. No idea where I'm putting the header tank as it's original...
Driver's side was okay but extended the top where it runs over the inlet to stop the hard pipes rubbing on the inlet. Changed the straight connector on the passenger side outlet for a 120degree bend to squeeze it between the chassis and the rad
So whilst this fitted it now meant the hard pipe...
Waiting on an engine loom turning up so got on with other bits. The suspension's back together but need a couple of m10x1.25 nyloc nuts to finish it off. Got new anti rotation links, drop links, and toe rod ends, plus cook sport springs and new 200 cup dampers.
Next up was fitting the...
I've got one of the early phase 2 ECUs so not an R26. The ecu pinouts should be the same but the differences appear to be on the 3 engine side connections to the UPC. The ecu is running he correct software and Chris at EFI has transferred the immobiliser code so wiring dependent I'm good to go
A bit of interneting will throw up some diagrams of what the wiring changes are that need to be made on the Megane engine loom to connect up to the Clio UPC. 3 plugs need to be changed, the diagram for 1 plug appears to be correct.... so currently in wiring hell tracing connections so I can...
Got the ECUs back from Chris within 2 days so have mounted the 225 ecu in the bay.
Polybushed the engine mounts using road series powerflex bushes
Retains original bushes but just fills the voids in them and adds support. Need to do the upper torque mount later this week.
Stuck some...
Just got back from 2 weeks away with the family, got a few bits and pieces delivered so I can get going again
New slave cylinder compared to slightly shagged one, primed it with some fluid and bolted it up to the box
Ludicrously expensive hand fettled Sachs clutch and heavy duty pressure...
Well the engines finally out for collection tomorrow.
Got the gearbox off and found this
Be needing a new slave cylinder then. Also had to split the passenger side driveshaft as the end appears to be stuck in the gearbox and couldn't get enough leverage on it in situ to get it out. Car's...
Been trying to sort a clutch out for use with the Clio box which is proving to be a right pain in the arse. Limited options other than a TTV flywheel with motorsport clutch and adaptor plates seems to be either an uprated organic with stronger pressure plate which both Helix and Sachs do or a 4...
Need to remove the driveshafts and then its ready to come out and go to its new home. Had to use a 6ft extension on the breaker bar to get one hub nut undone, other than that pretty straight forward. Seems a whole load more substantial than the 172 ie heavier. More power will be required
