Next job, rip the megane apart
I can't describe how much of a pain in the arse that was compared to pulling the engine from the Clio. Absolutely no room to get at anything. Front suspension is complicated dual axis hyperstrut or whatever it's called so getting the driveshafts out required a bit...
So first job a couple of weekends ago was pull the phase 1 engine, gearbox and 182 manifold from the Clio. Sold the engine to a member on here who viewed it running on the Saturday, by Sunday morning it was out and in the afternoon gone.
Back in Jan 2015 I bought a standard 172 in red with 110k off ebay. Over the next 12 months I got carried away with the idea of a track car and ended up with a completely stripped, lightened, ITBd, caged car that made 204BHP at EFI and weighed in at about 865kg.
Another browsing session on ebay...
Can anyone confirm which Team Dynamics wheel the below is? It can't find a match for it - doesn't match the current pro race apart from number of spokes and doesn't appear to match the cheaper wheels either. I'm being told it's a pro race and would like to know for sure....
Cheers,
Matt
True, 865kg ish, it's fun. Brakes first and the remaining bushes to change, then cams. From the conversation you were having I gather you could do the cams for me?
204 and 172 to be precise, sure it was 177... I blame the beer . Chris said the original map wasn't bad just not tailored to the engine / manifold I'm running which is what I expected. Want some cams fitting next and see what we get then
It was the day llast week at Oulton Park which highlighted I need better brakes, as the car was quick enough but braking was a bit iffy at points. Think I'll give the RC6 ago before shelling out on 4 pots
Unsure which direction to go with my brakes.... I'm currently running CL5+ pads with Brembo HC discs and considering upgrading. The car is primarily for track - from what I've read on here the CL6 eat discs and produce a lot of dust which doesn't bother me, just interested to know which option...
Good day. Car went well in the morning then found out all the reviews that said Parada Spec 2 are useless in the wet were true... Need to get some better tyres for next time.
862kgs on fumes, 6 point cage, race battery, itbs, fibreglass panels, rear poly carbs, 1 seat, loom stripped down, brackets cut out, light weight wheels etc. Working out how I can lose another 14kgs to get to 850kgs..
I had an OMP base with generic sliders and side mounts onto a Cobra seat so that myself, my dad and my mate can all use the car at trackdays. I've now got a subframe from Jonfoz on here again fitted with runners and sidemounts.
For those who have fitted rear quarter lexan windows - did you keep the rubber seal between the window and the bodywork or just bolt/bond the lexan straight onto the body work?
have an oil catch can connected to the rear connection, the question was more related to the one that sticks straight up from the cam cover. I was going to liquid metal some fine steel mesh over it to act as a filter....
I'm on the process of fitting a set of KTR throttle bodies I purchased second hand off here. The car is a 2003 172 - what have people done with the breather that goes between the top of the cam cover and the inlet manifold? blocked it off? if so with what?
Thanks
I have an issue with the passenger side headlight on a 2003 172. The entire unit has stopped working yesterday, so no indicator, no dipped light, no main beam. All other lights on the car are working so the only issue is the entire passenger headlight unit. I'll be having a look at it tonight...
