Just been out in it. Feck me it's fast.
So looks like it'll be going for alignment tomorrow and getting the R1Rs fitted. Going to get the garage to check the brakes over as well for my piece of mind.
Problems at this point - speedo doesn't work, only got 2 abs sensors connected, will connect...
That's a right royal pain in the arse. The shafts are in on mine, like I said passenger side is okay but drivers side there's bugger all in/out movement so it's effectively fully compressed but the wheel turns fine and it looks to able to get enough negative camber so I'm hoping it'll be alright...
hmm, 4 days till Oulton and work's gone mental, time running out....
Wiring all connected up, still need to chop loads out but that can come later. Brake and clutch lines in, system bled. Bleeding the clutch was a bit a head scratcher as it turns out you release a clip on the slave cylinder and...
Plugs for the eps ecu, luckily I took this before I chopped it off. Bridge pins 4 &5 and 6&7
Got the driveshafts assembled now, meant to measure, but forgot, in case I need anymore making
In terms of fitting the megane stalks you can fit this collar off the megane column after dremelling out the inside that the megane stalks mount up to
Also finally got around to putting the driveshafts together. Got new inner boots from ECP, then found I didn't have any outer boots so ordered...
Slow progress at the moment. Spent quite a bit of time sorting the wiring. Front headlights are easy, just plug straight on the megane loom as same connector, rears had to play around with a spare battery to work out which wires corresponded to which on the clio loom I left attached to the...
So as above, can bypass the EPAS ecu by bridging pins 4&5 and 6&7 on the ECU plug and the cluster comes to life. Errors galore but that's to be expected as half the wiring's missing. Apparently the speedo runs off the ABS ecu so I've pulled the ABS ecu off the pump and will attach that so I've...
Think I know why the bloody dash cluster doesn't work. Below is the Megane car network - item 9 is the instrument cluster which runs through number 8 which isn't connected as it's the EPAS ecu I sold. FFS. Need to find one and hopefully the instruments will magically spring to life...
Too much! Main items are assemble the driveshafts and get them in, connect up the exhaust, finish plumbing brakes and clutch and bleed the system, make dogbone mount. After that it's really just tidying up and wiring up the lights and switches inside the car. Hoping by the end of this weekend to...
Got the driveshafts, just waiting on new boots then get them put together and in at the weekend
Got the remote reservoirs installed under the scuttle, 1 reservoir per cylinder connected up with braided hose and air filter cobbled together, used a samco 70 - 60 reducer into the turbo inlet and...
Didn't get time to pick the drive shafts up so decided to get on with the exhaust. Got the car as high a possible to try and manoeuvre the linkpipe in but it's too big to fit through the space between the shell and the subframe.
You can just about see the end of the downpipe above. Only way to...
Speedo still wasnt working yesterday either so went to a breakers and got a replacement loom section for the repaired part and swapped that over, then found the speedo connector is different 😞 So quick bit of ebaying and have a different speedo cluster on the way.
Getting there...
Got a message that the drive shafts are ready so I'm going to pick those up tomorrow
Got the accelerator pedal mounted today - used the bracket from the clio brake pedal, drilled out the spot welds on the bulkhead plate and got it off with a bit of levering and cut the top section off...
Made a list earlier of everything left to do:sob:
Got on with fitting the short shifter. Had to pull the gearbox mount out to get access to get the linkage out. Getting the roll pin out of the linkage was a bit of pain, then swap over the pivot, roll pin back in and then back together. Feels a...
