Out with the old, in with the new

I actually thought the OP had bought the Alpina and was just really bad at taking photos....in all seriousness got to love a Trevor. My mates dad has one and it sounds epic. Great purchase.

Giving a 172 Cup some TLC

Superb progress already. Love a standard cup and seeing some nice turinis makes we want to replace my 2118’s. Well done 👍

1 owner clio cup 172 -21k miles - whats it worth

Nice purchase. I can’t remember when i last saw a cup with the Matt blue side rubbing strips still intact. Mine went gloss about 10 years ago. Great OEM find and be interesting to see how this progresses.

    I bought my dream car.

A 996 Gen2 GT3 is on my top 3 to own one day but i have to admit since you have taken off both the facelift lights and Gen1 GT3 wheels it looks a lot better.

    182FF Inferno Turbo

I can completely agree with this. Had VT Engine mounts and a Poly bushed gearbox mount on my Clio for 4 odd years now and have experienced no more harshness or vibration than I felt stock. Everything feels really tied down and takes all the slop out of the engine and gearbox. IMO a no...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Speedlines look ace mate. When i have my 2118’s redone i will have the decal done like that as the stickers look great until you use a jet wash on them...

    Clio Turbos (the 172/182 kind)

Had mine turbo’d on a low boost setup since 2014. Mr Greer did the honours but thankfully it was at the beginning of his tenure so did all of it himself. It was pretty reliable but my mechanic has since gone through the whole car in that time so probably not a true reflection. My thread is on...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Those ducts look bob on. Like you say the others look like an afterthought but those look very OEM +. Impressive 👌

    Relax....it’s a Rover

Small update: Done a few little jobs tonight. Starting to refit the back end of the car. Took off the crash bar and decided it looked a bit shabby so rubbed it down and treated it to a bit of silver paint. Also replaced the rusty bolts with some new black stainless ones. Refitted it all and...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Like others have said a really interesting write up on your turbo experience. Did the 2 cars your tried have standalone ECU’s? I have been in a number of other turbo clios (other than my own) and i have to agree that the mapping is crucial to how the car feels and behaves. Mine uses an...

    Ash’s Clio 182 Trophy

This is my new favourite clio on the forum. Literally epic attention to detail. I have the same BC DS coilovers and be interesting to see how you find them. I personally love them - currently have them set just over mid point on front and back and the ride is really composed. Another on...

Few pics of my turbo'd cup

it is a long slippery slope to boost... but well worth it. Our cars would be almost blood brothers then :) You are always welcome to have a go in mine if you want mate. I am happy to accompany you in the R - would be a struggle but i would power through.

    Relax....it’s a Rover

Weekend Update: Had a good few days on the MG - wanted to get the drivers side arches cut and the fibreglass fettled and try for draft fitment. The drivers side rear arch was always the one i was dreading. Two reasons - the arch mould itself was not great and it took a lot of cutting and...

Few pics of my turbo'd cup

Haven’t updated this for a while as i haven’t driven it in a while.....2 years to be precise. Other priorities have got in the way but this year I decided i needed to get it going again. It was due cambelt and dephaser alongside fixing some long standing issues - main one being a intermittent...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

This thing is minty fresh. As others have said some great ideas used to freshen up your car....some of which i will be borrowing when mine finally returns from my mates workshop :)

    Relax....it’s a Rover

Thanks bud - when it came out of the garage today i actually heard myself say wow!! Such an effort to get to this point but well worth it. It is like Tommy Lee Jones in Batman at the moment tho as the other side is still standard ZT. Looks anorexic compared lol

    Relax....it’s a Rover

Well lockdown has meant that work on the MG slowed to a crawl due it being at my mum & dads. Using all the social distancing guidelines I decided to do some more work today. Front arch on the passenger side went on first. Good fit but it will need some minor adjustments. Currently 5 M4 nuts...

    First & current hot hatch

In short the 172 chassis is far superior. The ZR was a great 8/10ths car. Push it hard and the suspension ran out of ideas and it became quite ragged on or near the limit. 172 is in a different league however i used to love the K series engine and how the ZR looked. Rare to find one now that...

    First & current hot hatch

The pros and cons have been debated on this forum for years....i would do a search or go on my thread as i went into some detail there. In short - as a purely financial proposition not worth the money. In terms of fun factor and the enjoyment i have personally got out of it well worth it. If...
