My sister had a Twingo 133 for about 2 years and i got to drive it a lot. Nice car - didn’t ride as well as my 172 cup and engine is Revvy but a little gutless. Loads of fun tho with a lot of grip for such a small car. Felt really planted on the road and looked really smart (colour was like a...
First warm hatch was my MG ZR 120 back in 2003 followed by a black MG ZS 180 - the chassis on that car was sublime
Not my car above but exactly the same. Then came my 106 GTI which i loved.....until I wrote it off
Next came my Zetec S which had a cracking gearbox and chassis balance - just...
Lovely work Sir. Great modifications so far and the engine bay looks great - exactly how i want mine to look. Currently sitting in my mates garage until it reopens after having cambelt, new boost pipes and general engine tidy up. Can’t wait to drive it and seeing a car as good as this makes...
Speed Academy currently restoring an EVO 6 which is a great watch alongside Gears & Gasoline who do some great road trips but are also tuning an EVO 9 (i believe) and K Swapping a Civic. Both in depth and really insightful. Better than the usual LLF, Sideways Sid comedy IMO
Where are you based mate?
Your more than welcome to come and have a go in mine. Mine been turbo’d for around 4 years and it is epic. I agree with some of the points made - if your putting a lot more power but more importantly torque through the car other components will need upgrading to cope...
Just read through your current progress. Love the bits your adding. Seats and steering wheel look ace - love a Proto tipo (Singer et al)
Keep up the good work - getting to be a very nice car. I wouldn’t discount the low boost turbo btw. I think it transforms what is an already great car...
Had a couple more weekends on the car. Decided to strip down the ebay wheels and give them a coat of silver:
Paint Stripper applied:
Left them for 24 hours then attacked them with the wire brush and Drexel to take the curb rash off the edges. Fully Stripped of paint and lightly sanded:
Gave...
Controversial
It will be the very slightest of curves and the if it is good enough for Singer it will be ok for me. At the end the day i am using this for trial fitment. If it looks gash i will change them as agreed really stretched ricer style tyres look shite but a little curve is all...
So....Sunday was the day where i had to pack my spare pair of pants and cut the passenger side arches. My mate lent me 2 of his angle grinders and i double checked all my measurements and began covering up anything in sight with sheets.
Started on the front arch as that is single skin and if i...
Love that. Had exactly the same car and colour and like @Sir_Dave it got wrote off in the early 2000’s. Great car, nimble handling, food packaging interior but my 172 cup was in a different league when i swapped it in 2006. Do miss it tho and you never see any around anymore.
Thanks bud. A proper labour of love and most people think i am mad but it will be worth it when its done. Getting some real enjoyment out of doing most of it myself as well.
Been another busy few weeks on the MG. Spent some time getting the front bumper figment correct and adding the mesh grille etc. Bought some mesh based on the correct spacing. Made a template out of cardboard and then began to cut and bend the mesh into shape.
Used some tin snips to make the...
So been a while since i have updated this. A lot has happened since October 2019. To give a little context my dad used to work for MG Rover and he used to use a body shop on Coventry to prepare all of the photographic and press cars that the press garage couldn’t do. We have been using the...
I’ll just leave this here. Your welcome 🙂.
This guy had loads of amazing content - lots of it has English subtitles. The 147 GTA video is my favourite along with this one. Merry Christmas
I would love too.....but it’s sorned and off the road unfortunately. Needs the cam belt doing which i will have done in the New Year. When it is back of course you can mate. Where you based? It is awesome by the way - once you experience it you won’t look back :)
No it was done by a man by the name of Andy Greer. He is well renowned on this forum for being the worlds worst businessman.....but luckily mine was one of his first conversions before he morphed into Captain bodge. I haven’t driven either but i would assume they would be a riot. The biggest...
Having had my car for years with a low boost setup i would recommend it all day long. Puts the car in another league performance wise. Been pretty reliable but never as a daily driver. Mine has 235bhp and 227lbs ft and that is about as much as I would put through the car without ruining it...
For me the biggest “must change” bits are:
New steering wheel
15” wheels as it drives so much better (IMHO)
Coilovers - my BC’s on soft are a lot more composed and better riding than my cup dampers with cooksports
Buckets seats. Recaro PP or Corbeau CS as they are still comfy over long...
Agreed :) - when funds allow i will install a Kenne Bell supercharger to it which should see around 450bhp safely. Should be around E39 M5 quick then which I will be more than happy with
It will be getting the original big rear spoiler fitted which i have (still in the car at the moment) ready. Should balance the car up a bit i think. Below is the only original prototype at Studley Castle for a photo shoot. Apologies for the quality of the photo(out of a book) but you get the...
Yes mate - will be be putting some custom bbs LM style wheels made by a local company Image Wheels. When the kit is all fitted i will take the required measurements as there is normally a 8 - 10 week lead time on them.
Well it has been a while since i updated this. It has been with the body shop since March - told him i was in no rush and went over at the weekend to have a look at “progress”. He has some of the kit installed but it has and still will need a lot of custom fabrication to make it a) look OEM b)...
Very nice purchase mate. Looks great. I remember a long time ago when mine was standard :) Enjoy it and it’s encouraging to see another Cup on the forum(y)
