I'm gutted I missed out ..could you post the times and competitors for this event ..I'm interested in class sa and sc ..or @Rob Thomson , could you send via messenger if you've got results ..I was following on Resultman , but they have no names , just numbers of competitors..cheers 👍
Did anybody on here buy the clio 172 cup on ebay this morning ?? .looks half decent for the money .I saw it first thing this morning and considered getting it , ( had a quote to get it from hampshire to manchester for 42 quid 😮) but decided against it , I'm happy enough with my ph1 ..
Wow , 18 in class SA , should be fun , my first yr with the MG , need to iron out the buggers niggles first . People can call Renault all the like , but compared to MG they are like a limo ..🤣
I'm surprised this car hasn't sold , been for sale for ages ..Looks decent and seems a good price , been reduced a few times I see ..Are people after a cup packed Clio instead due to getting a better interior ? ..personally I'd fancy a punt if I had the money atm ( for hillclimbing in standard...
Think I'll look into the steering wheel myself ..as it would make a big difference imo as the p1 one is like a bus ..if I'm in the clio this yr , depends how well I go in my mg thing ..
Looks a good Lap ..practice Is the key ..i noticed mr Goodlad was competing too ..hes really quick round Three sisters in his Cup , just shows you how important familiarity is ( with regards him being 3 seconds off the pace at curborough ) ..my green machine beat him by 100th of a second at...
The one practice, three times runs , is controversial ..if in a championship that one extra practice can make all the difference, especially if your new to the venue .
As you know Rob , it's all about getting everything perfect in one lap ..that's the skill and thrill in the sport ..curborough championship is a great one , I did in my Daihatsu charade Gtti 9 or so yrs ago ..before fig of 8 ..
Tbf the 200 cup seems to be the car to go for in this class ..theres a guy who competes in Longton and district events who has one and hes rapid around Aintree and Blyton ( the real power events) ...curborough is tight so they obv fast there too ..I thought I did ok recently on the 2 lapper with...
Maintenence is the key ..as I'm finding out this year..my car feels a world apart from last year and I'm comfortably beating my times at every venue ..up to now ..familiarity too ..as I've a little more experience at the hillclimbs this year ..
Personally , I think they just drive and drive it , track days too etc until they cant go any quicker ..I remember a couple of yrs ago one of the fast "fiesta st " cars came to three sisters on the meeting after I was there ..and despite being miles faster than me at curborough was actually...
Tbh ..I'm 90% certain next yr to move up to modified ..I want a few yrs on sticky tyres and lowered springs( eibach red) ...see how my times compare ..I've always said I wouldn't but I've 'u' turned a little and fancy a change ..no engine mods though ..poss a k and n filter ..as say , Loton...
What I meant by the 205 comment was that a few yrs ago the msa introduced at yr 2000 cut off point for standard production cars ..as opposed to any age car previously ..I don't know why they did it ..possibly safety in post 2000 car was reasonable compared to a pre 2000 car ?? ...hence wiping...
