Good work! Although it's bad form to work on your car after 10 cans, you're photo's come out a bit shakey! ;)
And good to see it's not just me that uses the scuttle panel as a tool rack!
^^^^ Yep.
It would be very hard to plumb it up wrong, there should only be a bit of moisture coming out of it. If there's a visible amount of oil then you've got a melted piston.
Which car have you bought?
IMO if you're confident enough to do the work yourself then source the parts yourself as well then you can chose whichever turbo, ECU etc you want instead of just getting whatever is in the kit.
Drop us an email Andy@clioturbo.co.uk or Admin@clioturbo.co.uk if you want a good deal on turbo...
Are you going to do the work yourself? If you're just spending £4k on parts then you can do a lot better than 230hp, realistically you could have 300hp with a forged engine.
For cheap parts give us a shout at ClioTurbo.
Theres lots of brake upgrades out there. As for gearbox, you can upgrade...
I think the standard inlet looks better than any that shows the rocker cover, the rocker cover isn't particularly nice to look at. I have a 225 inlet and head and it doesn't look as neat as a 172 setup IMO. And as said above there's no restrictions with the standard inlet so no need for performance.
Standard good compression is about 190. But all your results are within 10% of each other which would suggest if it is down on power it could be due to cam timing.
Cheap compression gauges sometimes dont give true results, though. If they're all even (which yours are) and you've no other...
How much boost is it holding higher up the rev range?
If it's dropping off a bit then it might be a good idea to use a solenoid to control it, which will help peak power.
With your setup you could probably run 10psi? You could put a bit more pre-load on the actuator as well which might lift...
Thanks @DTM Cars Ltd.
That's the main spec, also has Walbro fuel pump, Deka 630's, BC Coilovers, Recaro's etc, can't remember everything.
All the work was done my myself and Andyrg @ ClioTurbo.co.uk. It started off as a standard black 172 and has been painted and converted from a low blow in...
