How much would having a head gasket changed to thicker one cost me and do you think some where like btm could do it as that's 30 minutes from me.
Also will the engine still run n/a as it's a lower compression or should I do it once I have the turbo running.
With the ecu can I run the car...
I had a look at that inlet but it's not the neatest or prettiest inlet. There is a lot of work involved fitting the megane head and really don't want to have to take the head off just for a gasket.
If I can I will forge before fitting a turbo, hopefully it would be only running few months...
I have a 225 head and inlet but I'm trying to avoid taking the engine apart until I can afford a full forged engine. I plan on making the inlet myself as I have tools to build and weld one, was thinking of modifying the megane inlet but don't think it's worth it.
Started discussing this in someone else's thread so decided to start my own. Basically I want to turbo my 182 using a megane 225 turbo and manifold.
Main problems would be I need a custom inlet manifold and to adapt the breather to give the turbo clearance.
Few things I haven't researched so...
For the whole engine it's, custom mounts, drive shaft, management, relocating brake cylinder, drive shafts, getting gearbox to fit under, clutch is hydraulic, steer rack has epas I think and few other things
Does the megane manifold fit the 182 head as I could get a 3" pipe straight off that and have it round to where the air box is, could save some money on manufacturing the manifold
I wanted to fit the head but seams more work than it's worth, then wondered if I could get the manifold and turbo behind the standard 182 inlet but as it doesn't might just go with the parts designed for the 182. I was thinking about a custom manifold to bring the turbo round to where the air...
They are a pain to get off, I took mine off the other day. Get a small flat head, wiggle it under the end of the tube and and pull the tube with as much force as you can. May take a while but keep wiggling and pulling using the screw driver to lever it off.
You have a good point, there are brands that people say are good and still don't perform as good as cheaper tyres. Should test them out for your self and no the limit of the tyre you buy.
Just to chip in, I find price roughly determines the quality of the compound so the cheaper the tyre the more plastic crap style rubber you get and the more expensive the more rubber-rubber you get :) Then with brands you get better compounds with the company's that have more knowledge and...
Spotted a Blue 172 leaving Halfords car park in Hereford in the spur retail park with a small pea shoot exhaust and a female driver with cliosport stickers in the windows, I was in the BG 182 leaving Halfords behind them.
