Removing top inlet/plenum

Is there something I'm doing wrong? I want to take off the plenum and fuel rail guard to paint them, but I cannot get the brake cylinder vacuum hose off the back, nor can I get the clip that holds down the coil pack wiring loom, which is just a little clip, I can see how it works, but I can't get underneath to pull the little clip of the latch so to speak?

The hose right in the centre of the picture, it's an absolute b*****d, no way it's coming off - any ideas? Is there a certain way in which you're supposed to get it off?

No certain way, just wiggle and pull at it, should glide off with a bit of persuasion. If you 100% cant get it off and there is nobody with upper body strength that can help. Cut it off, then slice the bit that's left on horizontally so you can peel it away. Then when your done painting push it back on.

They are a pain to get off, I took mine off the other day. Get a small flat head, wiggle it under the end of the tube and and pull the tube with as much force as you can. May take a while but keep wiggling and pulling using the screw driver to lever it off.

Slice it off if needs be. When it comes to putting it back on you can dip the end of the hose in a cup of boiled water for a couple of minutes to soften it up.

Now then, the little clip? You can see it in the picture above, the black circle bit with the clip that clips onto the cable going to where the plugs are?

That should just pull straight out upwards - there's nothing holding it on the other side it just pushes in.

If you can't take these two off, you shouldn't be working on your own car.

For the clip, tiny screwdriver and it'll pop open.

Masking it up on the car would be a nightmare. Now I've had it off once, I'd feel much more comfortable doing it again in future, plus I'd imagine a few bits would come off easier in future.

Anyway, it's done now.

Bay still looks crap, need to dress all the plastics now and paint the engine cover - wish I hadn't started.
