Renault Japan ordered all official imports in LHD for the cachet reason as above. They could of have LHD or RHD, but LHD is what their customers would want a French sports car to be and is what would sell better.
The Lutecia's phase 1s have different badges and different (unnumbered) plaques...
Brilliant stuff Mark, your in for alot of fun! Brands in that will be fantastic!
The bumper is actually 2 piece on the trophy cars, the lower bar section is a removable panel, rather than cut out. They allowed people to race without the lower bar from in 2002 (when the cars still had ph1...
no, it doesn't show speed (theres nothing in the car to measure it either!). the digi dash shows RPM, throttle vale opening, barrel potentiometer voltage, gear engaged, intake pressure, water temp, air temp, battery voltage, oil pressure, O2 probe correction and diagnostic data. Annoyingly its...
Yeah the original ecu's were sealed to keep the field even. Which car is it? The register is worldwide!
It's a different box on the trophy to the 182's but the same principle!
They are indeed awesome! No I sold mine a few months back.
What I meant is you can't take the cage out.
The one at specialist cars had a Reg plate but was a ringed ID from a 1995 clio RL. Not legal in the slightest. It was hugely changed from factory, converted to RHD, different suspension.
You could do that with a cup racer, but thats not strictly possible with a trophy racer as a 182 shell is very different to a v6 trophy shell.
The cup racers have a bolt in roll cage, in a v6 trophy everything hangs off the roll cage, a bit more like a WRC car.
The cage is welded in and...
The only legal way to do it is to put it through an IVA as they have no VIN and no type approval. I recall tried and failed to do it with a grey cup racer a few years back. There were all sorts of tiny issues.
If you nab the ID off another car and get caught, the car will be seized. Any...
this car has standard black pole positions in it, I think they look great with the standard phase 1 interior:

Yes I have, indeed looks a pretty good car (minus the chav headlights) but a bit rich on price... depends how clean it is underneath and how good it is up close if it's worth that.
Just on these points, the good cars are still selling and quickly. Most v6s these days sell privately without appearing on pistonheads etc. More frequently they are also selling at auction for big bucks!
The cars that are sat for sale for months on end, are as Steve rightly says, are ill...
Looks lovely Dawn!
68 Mars red ph1 V6s worldwide. Of which 25 RHD examples were sold in the UK.
Of the 25 UK RHD cars, 2 were exported to France acouple of years ago (when the UK prices where half the rest of the world prices - 1 of these is now LHD). And there has been 1 known total loss...
Looks really nice Steve! Done a nice job of tidying it up. The paint looks fantastic.
Will be even better with standard wheel finish when done.
Will be at goodwood in mine too providing its not raining.
Was a fantastic day! It was Renaultsport heaven. My only criticism was that time flew by way too quickly... Even though we were there for nearly 12 hours!
The location and cars would of been awesome just as a static show, but the track element just made it so much more. Seeing the Alpines & 5...
Scrabble was the owner who was the most active and did lots of mechanical work on the car, he wasnt the one who did the interior/exterior mods though.
The mods were all made by someone who owned it between 2012/2013. http://v6clio.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=17804&p=169983
Good stuff, it looks like a good price in todays market. For some reason, that car has a record history of being sold cheap! It changed hands for 8.5k a few years ago and then again at just under 11k in 2011.
Its a well known car, It got modified to the hilt a couple of years ago and had a...
Very nice! It does look like you have found a good car there, good to see the yellow sticker and little red cap in place under the bonnet. Panel gaps look spot on too.
Non standard front matts in there though, or are they being used as matt protectors?
The car didn't come through Renault UK...
Its nice to read all the phase one love in this thread. The interior including tape deck and general look of the phase one in 100% standard set up does have a 'period' appeal to it all now. Its ageing well!
As for the orignal question, buy on condition and service history.
Phase one or two...
