Small update
Give the interior a deep clean yesterday. The rubber floor mat had deep engrained muck in it which i could not shift. Anyway done a decent mix of apc and used a brush on a drill to really agitate the muck, and it came up spot on. Cleaned the leather on the steering wheel and seats...
Use a hot stainless stapler/plasric welding kit to repair your current bumper. The chinese spec ones on ebay are £15 ish and work excellent, i repaired my kangoo grill bracket recently with one and its solid.
Something like this...
Sorry for the lack of updates on the build as not got round to it yet, but promise i will soon.
April 2023 update
Not touched the trophy since September last year. Ive been cranking the engine over occasionally by hand just incase instead of starting it up, as not keen on starting engines up...
Updates
Running in is done! Well as good as it gets.
Last few miles done on good Friday, went to Croft for a look round as a javelin trackday was on, then had another ride up to Whitby.
Kangoo got a bit of attention at Croft a few people were looking round it and head scratching:LOL:
Macro...
Ill be doing the usual pizza run after the track and standing about chewing everybodys ear off on the evening before leaving for a good nights sleep in the airbnb
Find a rust free example, worth spending more initially. Once rust is visible on arches etc, you will be forever chasing it unless you spend a lot of money cutting it all out for fresh metal.
Mechanical stuff is an easy fix in comparison.
Small update.
Moving some gear about today and it will fit a set of 4x 18" wheels in the back at a push and a pair of 13" r888r. Need to move my engine hoist and measured it up, id have to tilt the seat forward or leave the back doors open to get it in as about 150mm too long for the loadspace...
Weekend update
Weather pretty dogshit today but done more running in miles.
First stop local Kwik Fit as o/s rear wheel was slowly losing air, the valve that was fitted when wheels were refurbed was leaking so easy fix.
Absolute comedy putting it on the scissor lift almost too short :LOL...
Cheers mate. Mk2 dci is a proper dying breed now, most for sale are well past their best.
Its crazy the amount of money its earned over the years on business mileage. I think im going to keep running it until the bodywork is totally shagged.
Lively that! bet it was mega fun though.
Interesting about the old rear coilovers on an angle not optimal. My kangoo rear coilovers are similar, feels soft on the rear for 70nm springs might need to look at it.
Updates
Blue dci seemed a little bit down on power recently. Stuck a new delphi diesel filter on as cant remember when i changed it last, possibly when i refreshed the rings but that was 22k ago! Also nipped up boost hose clips as they had backed off a little, seems more willing to go torque is...
Updates from the weekend
Changed oil for 3rd lot of fresh millers cro mineral with new filter. Filtered drained oil and nothing to be concerned about.
More running in miles done, around 150 done in total. Brimmed tank and took it for a blast up to Whitby and surrounding areas, all b road/hilly...
Cheers mate. I love the look on the compomotives.
I always expect some teething issues but last few projects dont seem to have had any. Touch wood
Saturday update
Had a couple of small jobs to do. Started off by making a small cowling to go around rad, to keep the s**t out of the engine bay and to try and force air through the rad. Not the prettiest, but hidden from view when grill is on anyway.
Refitted grill, bumper and arch liners...
As above as far as i know, vvt via pmw would need a cam sensor.
Could always upgrade to 197 head, dephaser and vvt solenoid and run full sequential ign at the same time on standalone if you wanted a better setup.
Id just make sure the solenoid is working and get it setup on the dyno on 172 vvt.
