Canon 17-85 is another good walkabout lens - covers the ideal range. Reviews are mixed, but I think its down to people expecting £1000 quality from a £300 lens!
The 18-135is sounds great, but its £400 at the moment which to me is way to high for a lens that does not have USM. The new 15-85 is...
^^ yeah, I think I was just pissed off in the moment as the first batch of pics I took have come out pretty good. Great level of detail... for example:
So I get myself a D5000, first one has a really creaky body. So get a replacement, which is better.... but it turns out to be one that needs recalling because of some electrical problems.
This does not please me so I ring the seller and they have offered to replace it with a D3000 and some...
I like the improvements in Fifa, its the little things that make it a good improvement. Love the tussling and barging off the ball, the last ditch flying blocks are superb, and the fact the keepers are improved is great. At least they can now make recovery saves!
I'm finding with the PES demo pretty shite! Ball sound effects are awful, players all seemed to be animated the same and the opposition defense always seem to be back in the box in huge numbers no matter what!
I have never been to a camera shop where they have rated Sony over Nikon/Canon?! Yeah you get a lot for your money with Sony, but I think that both Nikon and Canon have better glass, better range of extras and look better too! (IMO).
Comes out slightly darker, but shows more detail, I'm not talking a huge difference!
I took the plunge and got mine today after using one for a few days.
D5000, 18-105, 35mm = £864.
£75 cashback from Nikon - £789 all in.
Yeah I could of got a D90, but I wanted the 35mm at the same time and...
I need to get myself some 4GB SD cards due too 2GB ones just not being big enough for RAW shooting.
I was going to get sandisk extreme III but at £20 a pop I was wondering if any of the cheaper brands would perform as well?
Like this one, still a class 6 high speed card...
Slightly over budget but...

Had a very helpful guide mode for beginners, plus a few other features over the D40.
Or you can still get a D60 from Argos for £379.99.
