Im just worried i'll damage my gearbox as my car is lowered

Not sure if its bodywork really but i'll post it in here. Long story short, I hit a fox the other night in my Clio. Wasn't to bad, only minor damage, bent heat shield and my gearbox cover has snapped off. If your not sure what I mean, i found this picture on google of one hanging off...

I honestly don't understand why people get pulled unless your driving like a dick tbh. Ive had my Clio for 3 years, K&N, Ktec Stealth, Tinted rear windows, coilovers, non-standard alloys. And Ive yet (touch wood) to be stopped. The Police are about everywhere where I live, set up ANPR camera's...

I really do wonder what people perceive as looking good when it comes to cars. I mean how in living f**k can someone look at that and think 'yesh! That looks bang tidy, money well spent'
