    New Clio 182 Track Project

Late start today, but got a few more things ticked off the list. Switched the seats and mounts over. The drivers seat is set a couple of inches higher, as I don’t like to sit too low in a car. Then removed the stickers, well all except one 😊 It looks less racecar now, which is what I...

    New Clio 182 Track Project

Changed the engine and gearbox oil plus ran some Castrol SRF racing fluid through the brakes. Last job of the day was to flush the old coolant out. Took 6 engine flushes to get it all out. You can see how it slowly changed colour with every flush. Picked up the last 5-litre bottle of...

    New Clio 182 Track Project

Exhaust hangers arrived midweek from ProAm Racing with an assortment of bolts. Went with countersunk BZP bolts. PMS exhaust mounts on. Lovely bit of kit with tons of adjustment options. Put some new Lambda sensors on. The car is so much quieter. That’s that box ticked off.

Wowzers, what a beauty  Good luck with the sale, although I don't think you'll need it.

    Help please new clio owner

I meant in relation to the stiffness of the clutch. The rattle is wear and tear no doubt. Old cars, poor maintenance, cheap parts, par for the course I’m afraid. The clutch guide tubes get very worn. Couple that with worn release bearings = rattle. They can even come loose, although that’s...

    Help please new clio owner

The power steering pumps are relatively quiet. You know those are on the way out because they whine when turning left and right whilst stationary. The steering feels a little heavy and vague also whilst driving, but unless you're used to the cars characteristics, it's difficult to diagnose...

    Help please new clio owner

The whining is normal although yours is louder than usual. If I was a betting man I'd say it's the bearing on the Auxiliary pulley failing. I'd get that checked and changed straight away as if that fails and your auxiliary belt snaps, it'll likely take your cambelt with it. Not even sure I'd be...

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

Doesn’t surprise me. Everybody else just dicking about making expensive EVs. I don’t know why car makers just don’t build that 20k 5dr electric car with a 400 mile range, now. They can do it. Instead they just want to drip feed and maximise profits with big heavy lumps. They’ve got a great...

    Hopgop1's RB 182

You’re probably aware of it, but the Purflux A1224 filters are the same. Half the price. Good updates and looking like it’s still going strong.

Rear discs for a track day car?

I used to rely solely on George for all my discs/pads/brake fluids, but FrogJam Motorsport are spot-on at delivering top-notch, genuine or equivalent parts. It must have taken George years to build such a great reputation, and it was sad to see him move on. While we all appreciate a good deal...

Rear discs for a track day car?

08.5834.27 is with ABS rings 08.5834.25 is without ABS rings but has been superseded with 08.5834.27, so those are the ones you need. Didn't Frogjam Motorsport have any?

    New Clio 182 Track Project

last job of the day was to fit the new exhaust and new bumper. The manifold flange is in good nick. Everything went smoothly. Hung the rear silencer with cable ties for now. Gave the back panel a clean up. Then stuck the bumper on and the tow stickers. I managed to find the same...

    New Clio 182 Track Project

Today was a much better day. First job was to remove those exhaust hanging studs. It’s a pretty simple procedure so I’ll go over the process. Grab a drill and a 9.5 mm drill bit. Fill the exhaust hanger studs with cutting oil (optional but it helps). The studs are pressed into the top...

    New Clio 182 Track Project

Saturday was a bit of a wash out and a frustrating day. The old bumper came of easy enough. The exhaust was loose in places and literally fell off. Nice custom set up though. Militek centre silencer and then flexi piping all the way back. It sounded great but far too loud for my needs...

    New Clio 182 Track Project

Picked the old girl up from the yard. First time driving it. It was interesting to say the least. Goal this weekend is to switch exhausts, bumpers, change oils, remove stickers and have a good look over it. Lots of new parts have arrived with some to follow. Once I’ve done my first track day...

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

It couldn’t really. Come loose at best. But was it ever put it?

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Only if it’s missing. You might be able to see the head if it behind the AC pump. We’re all just guessing.

Clio 172 cup cutting out when warm and at idle, low revs at idle

They will be fake. I’ve had a set of fake ones off Amazon as well. Local dealers will have them in stock now, I paid £42 each. Autodoc are always competitive but you’ll wait an age for them. Injectors - P/N (8200207049) - OEM Mfr. Magnetti Marelli P/N (805001446001 IWP042)...

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

A shot of my engine. You can see all the bolts in that illustration. If it’s the other bracket bolt it’s where I’ve drawn a circle, just behind the AC pump. You can also see the AC pump bolts and the Pivot bolt for the alternator. These will be visible with the engine in and without removing...

Yep. And the only way to see it is to remove the A/C pump.

Found a bolt in the engine bay. Let’s play “where does it go?”

Just saw his is a 172, mines a 182, but I understand they both use the same bolt. The part number is the same for both cars - 7703002771 - which is the bolt I posted. I have a few bolts off a pump from a 172 Phase 1 engine and those are the same length as my 182 as well 🤷🏻‍♂️ They definitely...

Racing Blue 182 being serviced on the drive on Wirral Brombrough

You should have walked down their drive and said hello. Most car enthusiasts love chatting about their projects, it’s part of why we do it. I’ve lost count of the amount of people who just come up to you in petrol stations or wind their windows down while you’re driving. I once had a bloke in...
