You can use the front subframe but it’s missing a hole for the gearbox mount so if you’ve got the 1*2 one there you’d be as well changing it all with the wishbones etc.
Rear beam is different.
Sport wings/full body kit is different.
To be honest you really do just need to swap everything in...
1206 miles down.
Spent a night north of Lyon, fairly uneventful. Traveled down passed Marseille to a campsite on Sunday. “La Ciotat” very quiet peaceful town.
Tie rod is really annoying now but I’ve spoken to a local mechanic via google translate who’s going to rip me off for fitting a new...
Everything in theory would swap over. Although tough to find one without a sunroof so possibly be better with a campus model or similar. You’d be correct that they are a tad less likely to rust due to not having side skirt brackets riveted on.
Headed down to the tunnel on Wednesday, bit of a long haul from Glasgow.
514miles and drove an hour and a half into France and used the “park4night” app to find somewhere nice and quiet to park up.
Made a healthy lunchtime snack yesterday as I’d only packed a couple bits to get me moving...
Added a couple of shelves today made from leftovers. Quite chuffed with them in all honesty the phenolic plywood is nice to work with.
First trip in the van is booked starting next weekend so trying to get everything sorted sharpish. Thankfully most of my deliveries have arrived today.
A maxi and tent box would be far more practical! I’m blessed in the fact it will just be me taking this away so I’m not too fussed on space. I’m either going to have a tent or a small drive away awning style tent with me as well for campsites.
Made up my own jig for routing in hinges.
Making a fold down bed that comes down in sections so I can use part of it to sit on, ideal for saving space.
Folded away:
I still have another section that folds down into the drivers section when the seats are forward I’m just waiting on a...
Been cracking on with the rear of the van.
Wired in a leisure battery / split charge / grounding block and 2000w inverter.
The kangoo having a flat floor welded over where the rear passenger footwell would be I decided to use some of the space for the electrical gubbins.
Cut in a new...
If I was to hazard a guess it would be somewhere between 20 - 40 road cars left. A lot of them burst for parts / crashed or turned into track cars and left to rot. I know of about 4 off the top of my head in Scotland in all varying states 2 of them are track only cars.
A real shame as I think...
Had the coilovers welded up after making some brackets a couple weeks ago, had pencilled in a few hours after work to have a go at setting things up and having a check over it before it’s MOT next week.
Coilovers on and camber bolts fitted. I have a set of shorter drop links here if needed...
Got the van built up last weekend. Managed to snap off the return on a brand new radiator so had to wait till the Monday to get it buttoned up.
All fairly straight forward stuff was happy that it fired straight up.
Fitted the new ties and ends and wishbones while I was at it.
Ran the...
As above, we have recently put roughly 30 hours into fitting a pair of mk3 Megane fibreglass doors with poly windows in. They are roughly the correct shape however need a lot of cutting and ours needed a bit of fibreglass work to get them fitting anywhere near good with door seals etc.
Realistically for what the van gets used for it’s not worth the hassle. For once I like having a standard underpowered vehicle that doesn’t make me want to drive like a bellend 😂
Few bits done tonight to get this thing moving.
New turbo on, realised the oil feed line was a bit leaky so I’ve ordered a new one.
New rear main seal installed along with a valeo clutch and release bearing. Fired the box back on.
Will hopefully get a bit of time to do the belts and...
Stu isn’t often on here due to being busy. But you’ll get a reply on Facebook. For anyone not on Facebook feel free to Pm me and al pass the details on as I’m in 4 days a week at the moment.
As engines go they are easy to come out. Trouble I had was splitting the balljoints they were absolutely solid. So just opted for new wishbones. Then there is the turbo, seals were gone in mine but zero play in the shaft, to be honest absolutely no chance of that coming out with the engine in...
I don’t think it’s the worst job in the world with the engine in place to be honest. If I didn’t need the clutch etc done on mine I’d have just paid someone to do just the belts I recon. If you’re well versed on pulling engines and the like then it should be no bother this way although there...
Have done a couple trips in the van last year took it down to CSF22 to cart my tent and spares down and took it down to visit my mate in Campbeltown. Clutch started to slip under load and with the van approaching 170k I decided it was time to do the belts as I’ve no history of them being done. I...
The daily PD beast is getting there now these where last weeks efforts but it’s been dampened mucky weather the past week so it’s suitably a bit worse.
You’re welcome to come a ride along in mine once I’ve dug it out of storage for summer. 190bhp with cams etc
They are perfectly useable for all the stuff you’ve mentioned. Mines on 107k and If the weather was better I’d drive to the ring in it tomorrow.
Welcome I’m in Glasgow as well. Echo the comments above about condition over mileage above. Really depends what you’re after really and if you’re going to use the thing or not. Renomotive in fife are fairly local for any spare parts you may need as well they are on Facebook and instagram.
I’ve...
