Bit of an update. Made a start on some of the smaller jobs.
Boot pins. Taking some inspiration from @M.C.. I got to work.
My foolproof way of finding out where to drill...
Got 2 rivets on, but the shape of the catch won't allow me to get the rivet tool flush to it. Will have to think of...
Not had much chance to get in the garage recently, but managed to get a few hours in there today, and Steven came over.
He was determined to get the front brakes sorted!
So with the new brake pipe flaring tool, and "special grease" in hand, Steven set to work. New fittings have been put on, and...
And further to this, just rang Renault. So that above part number was about £48 from Renault, but has been superseded by 2 newer part numbers since.
The current part is: 8201590627 - current retail of £143.24!!
Turns out, my memory is atrocious. I don't actually have a NS2 on the front as I said. It's some random tyre that got fitted after I managed to get a puncture.
That aside, the treads are near identical.
Took the car back down to the boys this morning, and we hooked up a diagnostic machine to...
@dann2707 has one of these, and I will be installing one too. 4" might be too big to fit under the scuttle panel (If that is where you're mounting it).
We've gone for the 3" version - because there's no shame in being an inch smaller.
Yeah, keeping my hopes up and not panicking. Although that tyre has been on the car for a fair while, so I'm a bit duboius as to how and why it's started now.
3x Nankang NS2's and 1x NS20 - bought the wrong one from Camskill after I got punture.
So this all seemed to stem from back in October. I had the tyres replaced, and the tracking done, and the car then started pulling right.
It went back, they couldn't solve it. Wheels all balanced, etc.
Car...
Old skool. Never done me wrong before.
Yeah, as above, it's different treads up front. Going to try swapping the rears and fronts round.
They've been on there for a while though and not caused an issue before now.
In the last 3 months, car has had:
New calipers
New discs and pads
New...
Picked up the dci tonight after it's MOT.
I asked the guys to do the tracking, as the previous place left the wheel pointing to the right (but it wasn't pulling).
However, it's now pulling to the right.
Tracking is apparently straight and nothing is bent/ came up in the mot.
They've said...
@Steven103 came over this afternoon, and after I'd cleaned most of the crap from inside the car, we set about getting it running.
We hooked the race battery up, but it wasn't fully charged.
So got the jump leads out and used the pure power of the dci to give it a kick.
We struggled for a...
Good news! The cable for the bonnet release was actually still there, so gave it a good tug (Ooo errr), and was able to open the bonnet!
Unfortunately, it was late and dark, and my enthusiasm to stay outside for any longer was very shortlived.
Lighter nights soon, and an itching to get this...
@HMS Derv Destroyer knows a bit about the tuning potential on these I think?
Not sure how much further you can push them without some serious wedge - and at that point, you're better of getting a more powerful car (Megane 175 DCI for example).
There's loads of Mk3 threads though if you search...
