id have thought your looking at at least £3k for a front end conversion and a decent different colour respray. Engine etc etc has gotta come out to spray the bay etc etc

what gives you the impression its blown? A general rule off the thumb is push the centre of the cone in (you MUST push in straight! IF there is resistance, and a scraping sound you have blown the voicecoils. Make sure you push it in straight, if you push in at an angle, you will get this...

i doubt there would be anything in it. Id imagine the type R will handle the power more reliably however.

You arent going to get alot of "bounce" with 350wrms. Older type Rs are rated to about 300wrms I believe, 05 spec are 500wrms. 350wrms should be fine for an older Type R :) Id get an old Type R or S in Dual 4 ohm voicecoil configuration. AS said, you havent got enough power for a newer one...
