Side airbags in the front seats, don't forget them, the rest of the weight saving is covered above.
Glass, wheels, sound deadening (my cup had zero stuck anywhere), simple rear bench and so on.
I took mine down to the bare metal inside, replaced the driver's seat with a lightweight bucket...
First thoughts were that I won't be competetive...but in the over 2,000cc RWD class what else is there that isn't an ungainly heavy thing. Other RWD BMWs, yep, and boosted MX5s. I can see them being a challenge. Then there's Sierra Cosworths but I'd imagine mine should be a half decent match for...
I'm looking at a spring date at Bedford but can't commit just yet. Other than that I'm planning to take part in the GRRC Autosolo in March which will be a right laugh.
I like that...very nice indeed! Eco Pro for me works when you're on and off the throttle as it really does dull the response meaning a full on press needed to get burning some fuel. On a constant throttle, as you say, I can't see that it would affect anything.
Just because it does ALL I want and need it to do...which is to key in the fill-up data so that I can transfer it to my master spreadsheet every now and then. There's no need for me to look for any other. I'd consider using Google Sheets or Excel on my mobile but working on a spreadsheet on a...
Averaged 26.98 over 18k miles but that includes two trackdays so taking them out I'd probably be nearer 28.
My commute is quiet, not in any way stop-start, and I don't like braking so I don't think my MPG is typical for a 140 nor for a manual one.
It's not been cleaned since just before my trackday back in November and looks better for it I think.
And, yer, these Kumhos are showing signs of accelerated wear at the back for some reason...
I was once all over the back of a Ferrari F430 for a few miles in my 172 Cup, not on the road though. As soon as we got to a 1km straight he was gone.
It's all about driver confidence and comfort.
To me a hot-hatch is something that has at least a little engineering prowess within, specifically to make it an engaging drive.
All of the others on that list have something a little bit special about them chassis wise I think, don't they? Certainly something different from the standard...
Even I went "WTF?" when I scrolled down the list and saw the M140i.
Car oif the moment, sort of, hugely popular because lease deals, yup, but 5th best hot-hatch?
Nah.
Yes it has a hatchback. Yes it can be a huge laugh to drive. Yes it does all the mundane things a family hatchback should be...
I was doing mad skidz on my Raleigh Grifter once, completely lost it, straight into the side of the neighbor's Merc. Rode away quickly and never came clean about the dent.
What an 8yo c**t.
I can't say the Kumhos talk more...as said it's difficult to compare directly on track unless I drove back to back in the same conditions. They do talk though, very clearly...whenever I want a little slip I'm always able to just step slightly beyond so when it goes, it's nice and controllable...
I'm 100% neutral in all this, but wow. I'd have never gotten past that first point without a bill or some sort of formal invoice in return. I certainly wouldn't have kept throwing money at him.
Am I thick in never before realising you've a, sort of, personal plate on Sarah's car?
Or am I thick in thinking that out loud and seeing something that's not there?
