No comments on using the so called dyno mode. I asked him how he would do it and he told me. He's been doing it long enough and I (and many others) trust him enough to know that he's doing whatever he's doing the best way he can.
No exploration of drive modes either. I plan to datalog a bit...
He just stuck it on the rollers in normal 4WD mode, gave it a couple of pulls through and then that was it done. He said they generally sh*t themselves on the third pull and throw an array of lights up so he never bothers.
It doesn't feel like it goes like a 338 bhp car but it really does go...
Exactly this...there are zero surprises in the way the power comes in, any speed, any revs, put your foot down and you have a lag free 300-350 ftlb at your disposal.
Clearly he was showboating for the camera, tried to get a little angle, gave it the "seen it in the movies" quarter turn of oppo...
Having been sensitively run in 7k miles ago, driven enthusiastically ever since, and run exclusively on Tesco's Finest 99 since day 1, it was time to see where it's at...
Compared to book figures it's slightly down on power (-7bhp/-2%) but up on torque (+14ftlb/+4%). I'll take that. 300ftlb...
Ha ha ha, if he'd given it a proper armful of lock he'd have had that no problem.
Fully deserved outcome for being a muppet though. Ahem.
And the plate. That too.
Ha ha ha. Genuine LOLs. Suggestions or is my trying to convert you into an avid watcher a lost cause?
Oddly, and I really mean that...I find it very odd...I have a very good watch time stat...even when I load up these long ones a high proportion of viewers tend to watch them all the way through.
Oh he did...I just edited him out or else the entire thing would have been 50 minutes long! I wanted to focus on the drive of the 440...but he's still got the new car buzz so properly gushes about all the gadgets and stuff LOL
I have to admit I really did like it...right up until I climbed...
Thanks for arranging this Tim...mega turnout!
I was happy enough with mine...especially as Charlie said it was one of the better ones he's run.
Highlight of the day for me? After everyone had gone I was sat in the car setting up for a last short piece to camera...and witnessed this. Oh yeah...
They're to follow James. I have part 2 of this 440 comparison to edit and upload first and I'm at Surrey Rolling Road tomorrow so the 160 gb of skid pan footage I have won't get touched for another week or so at least!
I'll be waving a video camera around for a fair chunk of the day so if anyone doesn't want to appear briefly or otherwise in something that might find its way onto my YouTube channel please let me know tomorrow and I'll make it like you were never there...
Does it go away? Should it go away?
I thought it was a by-product of the aggressive friction material simply grinding steel so it would always do it so long as you're at a particular temperature and braking with a particular pressure.
I used to get it a lot with PF97 pads on my 172 Cup...
Ha ha, never...I'm staying put in the RS! A day hooning about in the 440 yesterday has convinced me of this even more!
Seating position is/was hilarious...when I climbed in it was as high as it could go, the wheel was as far away as possible and the backrest was f***ing horizontal. I got quite...
My 4WD RS friend can't make it now but I have a new nice standard mk2 FWD RS friend who should be coming along instead. He may or may not run...I'm urging him to give his garage queen a bit of a run!
I have, yes, but the thought of me making a video about me making a video even makes me feel a bit nauseous!
Being serious I do intend to do a simple filming in-car one, what angles/mounts and locations for cameras but more importantly...the importance of good audio.
So many just stick a GoPro...
I'll say that I've added more layers but for understandable reasons I'm not going to detail or vlog about them!
Am I concerned about it being taken?
Not really...sleepy village, private work car park, relatively crime free area...as @ColinG said in another thread, if they want it versus...
Nice barge but not knowing the stats I expected much more than this. That's pretty much on par with my Focus...and mine feels a very very long way from rocket ship pace. Quick though, plenty quick enough.
Enjoy it! Tech aplenty!
