They're not that powerful that all the boosts appear at some point & flips you off into the scenery.

Exactly this...there are zero surprises in the way the power comes in, any speed, any revs, put your foot down and you have a lag free 300-350 ftlb at your disposal.

Clearly he was showboating for the camera, tried to get a little angle, gave it the "seen it in the movies" quarter turn of oppo and then froze expecting drift mode to correct everything and make him look like a hero.
