those mega pickles mean f*ck all...
Do you ever use a 1.4TC with either? If so how much more reach do you feel you have with 280 vs 420mm?
Looking to add the 300 F4IS sometime this year along side my 70-200 f4..
Go for it but be prepared to look into something like the Canon 50-250 IS or Sigma 70-300 AGP down the line to cover the same range as the bridge camera.
can this be extended till the end of the month lol
I really need a 18-200 OS for this challenge lol, carrying all my gear randomly about in the hope of catching a moment is err akward...
Contrary to what other people have said, get yourself a good brand, you may not be a pro selling anything but nobody wants to lose their holiday snaps etc!!

Hope he opted for insurance haha
The story goes something like this...
The renter was using his 1Ds II to take pics with this lens and 2x extender (still attached in the pics). The monopod head snapped off, and the whole rig came falling down on the concrete. where the camera snapped...
Nah stick with it, you could make it a little wider like 'global warming' but I'd save that for another challenge.. just this one requires some more thinking, look forward to having a crack..
I'll have to check, was just cack lighting, I've used the curves to get the colours a bit better, should have shot RAW really but not worth the extra effort to be honest..
USM :p
Oh, if you got the 24-104 already, yeah I wouldn't bother! I got a lovely zoom gap between 22 and 70, needs filling, any excuse for new glass...
apologies for the ramble lol, 5 minute rule meant I couldn't edit it down , i'm just having a moment of justification for all the spending i've done lol :o
Thats great value! No HSM on the Canon version, I gotta wait for the 18-125 OS HSM coming out soon for my travel choice.
Can't go wrong with the 50mm, f/1.8 its good learning and good fun. Nikon should really release an AF-S 50 f/1.8 for a few more quid.
Damn, HSM and OS, one thing you Nikoners get that others don't. It's a stellar lens from what I've read, afraid its a never ending cycle of lens lust..
Thats because your/were amateur shooters who nit pick and pixel peep (well I do anyway), I've never had a freind or family comment on the noise in an image, the content is far more important, better to have noise and a picture than a clean blurry mess IMO.. in an ideal world those pictures would...
Has anyone you know ever looked at an image and said, oooo thats noisy I don't like it?
Saying that ISO 1600 on an underxposed shot on a 350D makes me cringe lol
I don't know the D60 spec but it sounds like a rebadged D40?
If your happy with using AF-S lenses with the Nikon go have a play with both and take it from there..
Very true, as stated at the bottom, and yup ISO 6400 or 12800 whatever the D3 can do is all good but at 5x the total cost of the rig I was using without a lens hmmmmm
And yup was the 85 f/1.8, great peice of kit, shame all the d40 users will never get to feel the full advantage of primes ;)
