For the doubters, a couple of snaps from earlier, try and do this with your zooms.... :clown:
yes I realise you could do it with a f/2.8 and ISO 3200 but I don't have that :rasp:

Are you after shallow depth of field or slow shutter speeds, for example when panning cars?
Focal Length...
Who you work for? Can't splash out on another tripod until I've splash all my money on a 40D, a Lee filter setup and then a walk around lens and a macro, could be a while!!
Are they on the ground? (maybe a silly question) A normal tripod will be to high I'd imagine and ones that get close to the ground get expensive. That little thing looks pretty good for the job.
To get the best macro out of the camera you'll want it at the long end of its optical zoom, so...
Give this a read..

Plus if you expose correctly noise is less of an issue. A properly exposed ISO 1600 picture will show less noise than an under exposed ISO 800 shot that's been corrected.
The 75-300mm is considered to be Canons Worst.
Look into the new Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS and its very new so will give reasonable results, you lose 50mm but gain IS so its upto you what you need more.
Trips back to the car? buy a decent bag and change in the field!
Go for the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG MACRO, make sure its the APO version as well, rated to be much much better!
It'll be far superior to the super zoom and has a larger aperture at the long end.
Check with Sigma if they offer world wide warranty on their lenses, if so you could import...
yup I'd be missing out on 75quid of rebate with onestop..
AndyRS got my quote from Kerso.. you can contact him through:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/FLASH-CAMERA
His e-mail addy is on there... he's cheaper if you buy outside ebay of course.
or
I prefer to PM him on POTN, here's his...
lol yup! worth it though or you can get the Sigma 10-20 at a good price, specially if willing to import...
Update on this, pretty much Official now. Running 1st of March to 30th of June.
Time to start 40D saving..... suddenly 100macro seems tempting, ffs!
Look up Kerso or PM me for...
I've learnt the long way on filters, started with the Cokin P-Holder, then got an UWA and had to get the Cokin P-wide angle but this can only hold 1 filter so now I want to upgrade again grrr...
pluss being a low end cokin it leaves a nasty colour cast and doesn't eactly help shaprness.. there...
hmmmmm stick it on a tripod, drop the ISO waaaay down, stop down the lens to around f8 then set up the exposure, should get something like this with 290mm...

450D + 18-55 IS would be sweet.
Otherwise just get 350D/400D + 18-55, then get the 50mm f/1.8, will teach you a lot. Learn then pick some other lenses...
For a second I thought you were comparing the 450D to the 40D...
*puts pitch fork away* :clown:
When the Canon rebates begin next month, fingers crossed and you'll get a 40D for 550, only 100 more than the 450D!
