So, I get there and it's filthy. Got the wrong carpet in it (cup carpet) and it's had a headlight and a new front wing at some point. And the rear bumper is mullered. I carry on looking as it's got some lovely bits on it (new bilsteins, pms ARB, spacers, stud kit, brand new sabelt steering...

eBay. But in fairness you're probably better off getting the old one welded up and waiting for a secondhand stainless system to pop up on here. £250, fit and forget.

I've done loads of them. If you turn the ignition on and put all your lights on (so you can see the issue) and then grab the plug on the back of the light and half pull it off. It goes really tight just before it comes off completely. Leave it at the tight point. If this cures the fault then...

Your old engine shat it's timing and imploded. You're fitting another engine and using the old to timing belt kit? Am I reading this right??
