I brimmed it this evening before a 200 mile drive home...what it was showing was quite optimistic, the real mpg calculated as 46.3, still not bad considering it was full of bodies and was fairly short runs.
A progressive drive home solo and mostly on quiet motorways has given me an indicated 40...
I'll find the link to it and post the photos later/tomorrow.
It was a thread on fiestast.org I think. Google fiesta st boost hose clamp and you should find it.
But yeah, it's tucked away half way down the back of the engine, the only sight I've had of the tiny little thing so far is when lying...
I've found the suction mount not the best as it doesn't have the 'toggle' release that the clamp mount has, hence me modifying the clamp mount to end up with something a little more solid.
So I agree yes, the standard suction mount isn't the best although it served me fine for a couple of months.
So, after a few days of running the family around on holiday to various places I'm averaging 50.6 mpg on this latest tankful.
I think the loose boost hose was seriously harming my economy as I've only been able to get a maximum of 40 or so over the last few months.
Definitely worth checking...
Aye. The ones with bobbles like mine are no more...you all get Zetec S/Fiesta Red/Black pedals now.
Personally I'd much rather have your smooth metal throttle pedal.
I've forgotten what driving on trackday tyres was like compared to road rubber. To feel yours today on full slicks was another level again. The lateral load they just effortlessly absorbed was astonishing.
Thanks for the laps. Great fun. Good to see you again. And everyone else.
:approve:
No, generally those shots are using a B. Hague headrest strut mount. I think you could do it direct from the strut but to get the driver in you'd have to compromise the view of the road on the passenger side.
I should get a chance tomorrow to go and just hold it in that sort of position, I'll...
That's the lesser model with a narrower field of view, no mount, and no memory card either.
Plus it's bright blue with a shiny bezel so is more easily visible when in place.
You should be able to use one of the supplied clamp mounts around one of the struts...although it may be a little tight. I can't try this though as I butchered both of mine to make them into stick on mounts.
It was a year ago, I haven't heard of many coming off recently. I think Ford listened to the dealer network and told the workers on the line to do the clamps up properly.
He he he. I genuinely love this thing unlike any of my Clios, keeping it looking good has become a bit of an obsession, especially after I just let my 172 Cup just rot into oblivion.
Are you going to be at Goodwood at all tomorrow?
Not as such...I went over all the clamps giving them a little tweak to tighten them up...but as the one directly on the turbo is buried so deep in the engine bay, and also that all clamps beforehand were more than tight enough...I didn't bother with it. My fiddling about with all the others must...
Nope! Ambient and intake were comparable as well...I just didn't bother graphing it as was interested in the changes in bar only.
Having had a normal commute run in this morning it definitely does get boosting fully a lot sooner, cleaner and harder...pretty much exactly as you would expect it...
It certainly does feel different, the front tyres are scrabbling about a little more than they were before.
The other thing I'll mention is that when looking through my pre Mountune MP215 data recently the peak boost figure was 1.33 bar.
Consider that when looking at what it now has...
Results are in, I was losing boost...albeit not a huge amount.
The only comparable 'before' run I could find was when I was recently playing about with the Audi S4...I still held my own despite the lack of boost peak LOL
I'd say it is worth a check over...but make sure you check them ALL!
:o
They're book, and as far as I can tell, also ideal.
Understeer just never happens, the rear stays put almost regardless of how much you lean on it, but the second you want it to, you can have it moving about at will.
On that basis I've never felt the need to experiment, I find them perfect.
My forward camera picks it up really badly :(
Fixed the boost pipe, it was the one clamp I didn't bother to get to as all before it seemed tight enough. There was a spate of boost pipes coming off a year ago so mine must have been one of those.
It survived a year, 22k miles, and a Goodwood...
A few days further down the line from having fiddled around with all the boost clamps I could reach and...on the way home tonight I lost ALL boost!
Car sounds like a jet fighter plane though so it's not all bad LOL
Better get the stands out again and go see which one has completely detached...
